2. What's their augment and why? (If they don't have one, explain why.)

Grady has a cognitive enhancement that significantly increases her working and short-term memory. Her parents thought it would make her smarter, and they were right.

What they didn't anticipate though, is that it means Grady really struggled in Helio classrooms. She was able to compensate by being pretty good at actually *studying*, but her augment doesn't help her much and can actually hinder her in environments where she doesn't get to actively engage and participate. She got chided about eye contact and quiet hands a lot as a child.

With that said, Grady does really love her augment! When she's in a busy and chaotic kitchen, she can hold a lot just in her head and sort of enter a flow state where her command of her environment is near absolute. She likes it enough that in timelines where Reliance and Erosion are born, she gives them both her augment and learns that the people who told her she was a difficult child were just inflexible. Her kids are brilliant.

12. If they could choose their own augment, what would they pick?

Miles would choose not to have one. He has complex feelings about his augment and the circumstances of his conception and birth.

Patch would choose the one she already has, but milder -- something like what Grady has, with less of a cognitive load and risk of sensory overload.

lmao Nougat's not really an OC -- maybe. It would depend on a lot of things, but primarily if her partners were coming too. It would need to be all of them or none of them.

I'm going to answer these together because the answers are unavoidably conjoined: it's not easy, because Patchouli takes a while to form her impression of people and looks for consistency above all other things. One event is a fluke. Many is a pattern.

This is actually why Patch and Ida get along. It doesn't matter how much of a freak Ida is, she's consistently friendly, intelligent and resourceful, so Patch would basically do anything Ida asked her to do without hesitation.

This also means Patch grows to really enjoy Marz, and a bunch of other people who don't seem like she should logically respect. If you're consistent over time, and she knows that if she needs something from you you'll do it, Patch will go the extra mile for you sometimes out of nowhere. Sometimes this is the first people find out Patch regards them highly at all.

Patch (left) and Ida (right) have colour palettes because I already had a palette for Ida since people seem keen to draw her (what) and I have to wait for reports to generate so I figured out Patchouli's colour scheme as well.

I think Patch is wearing an admin/command blue jacket or stole over her heliopause garrison recordkeeper clothes, which were not very uniform standard to start with. She hasn't even put her arms through it. Might even just carry it over one shoulder #disreputable

Ida works in Engineering, but she has a lot to do with Geoponics, so her colour scheme has nods to Geoponics green. If she took off the lab coat she'd fit right in and this is how she likes it.
