Totally not a projection fic from the first might of camping
Logince with child Patton go camping after getting a large tent with separate rooms so their teenager can still have some of their own space while in a tent.
On the first night they manage to get set up easily but have a storm hit in the evening with heavy rain for half the night and very high winds all night long.
Logan tries to force himself to sleep by laying still in a comfortable-ish position but doesn’t manage it at all, even having Roman asleep next to him.
Roman does fall asleep fairly easily but wakes when the rain dies down and the winds start trying to fling the tent from side to side with its gusts.
In the opposite section Patton tries to stay brave when scared by the storm, not even trying to sleep, but just to stay calm. He gets more and more scared by the movement of the tent as the night goes on especially when it’s blown so the tent is hitting the top of his head every minute or so.
He tries talking to himself, muttering and coming up with different puns to try and convince himself he’s okay until realising it has no effectiveness, instead trying to sing different things to calm him down, just hoping one of his dads will come over when he hears zips being opened from their section when he’s basically broken down to just whimpering at the scarier gusts of winds.
One loud cry from Patton at a gust of wind which seemed to only just avoid getting the tent to lay down alerted both his dads to his distress and Roman calls over if he’s awake and okay. At Patton’s admission he isn’t they get him into their section of the tent just hanging onto the edge of their air bed and clinging to Roman, after being prompted Logan rolls over and wraps an arm over them both cuddling into the other side of Roman’s chest as well.
Roman starts quietly telling stories with his husband and son cuddled into him until they all begin to drift off, although Patton struggles a bit because he doesn’t really fit on the mattress and the floor beside the bed is cramped and hard.
He sneaks back to his section when he’s on the edge of sleep and just wants to actually fall asleep finally.
Logan wakes up to Roman dramatically but quietly bemoaning the abandonment of his son and wondering how neither of them noticed him leaving as well as if being together and knowing they were all safe actually helped them fall asleep.
As soon as they get up and moving however Logan is searching for ways to stabilise and strengthen their tent and downloading multiple weather apps to find out any predictions on wind speeds and other poor weather so that they can make the best actions for the rest of the week.
