It is not as though God’s word had failed. For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel. Nor because they are his descendants are they all Abraham’s children. On the contrary, “It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.” In other words, it is not the children by physical descent who are God’s children, but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham’s offspring. - Romans 9:6-8
Paul speaks a profound statement in this passage of scripture that, to a Jew coming from a Jew, would most definitely be offensive. Yet Paul’s statement is the truth. Jews of the time believed that because they were Israelites their salvation was secured. Some of them still believe this even now. However, Paul explains that we are God’s children by promise irrespective of being Abraham’s descendants or not.
We as Gentiles have been grafted into God’s family tree by faith and have now been extended the name “heirs of the throne”. No longer are we considered slaves but children of the Most High God. Romans 8:14-17 says, “For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.” We are children of God if we are led by His spirit so therefore there is no longer Jews nor Gentiles but rather son’s and daughters of the King. This is an amazing truth that the blood that was shed for me on Calvary now runs through my own veins. God is my Heavenly Father. God is your Heavenly Father. God is our Heavenly Father. Amen!
