Topi’s Daily Card #1218: Path of Ancestry

After Command Tower, it’s a little harder to make commander lands that are super good. Path of Ancestry though is a fine addition to the commander land lineup, allowing you some free scrying as long as your deck is the least bit tribal. At worst, you’re looking at a land that ETBs tapped and gives you a mana of any color with no other downsides. If you’re casting a spell that’s your commander’s type, you get to do a little scry, free of charge. Of course, it only gets better the more tribal your deck is, but it can really go into any deck so you can at least scry when you cast your commander. It’s a simple design but really potent, something I love to see in new commander sets.
