Micro story prompt : harsh whisper for Khan ?

Awww, my boy!  Thank you.

Khan couldn’t sleep like this, with his limbs weighed down by gravity and the air heavy with poison and noise.  The Town-on-Gorkhon hadn’t been loud, of course, in months--not since the last train came and went and went and went...

But this was not where he belonged.  He could feel it in every harsh whisper of the metal-and-stone-and-wood scarred air against his skin.  He’d known that leaving the Tower might have been suicide, might have gotten him sick.  But he didn’t expect the death to be like this: all the space between his atoms and ideas ground up into something solid and weak, and left in the dirt.

1. What’s your favorite character(s) to write for? Hm, at the moment, I’ve got to go with Khan from Pathologic.  I really enjoy RPing as him because his inner monologue is so contemplative and sprawling and fun.  Other favorites include Aloth from Pillars of Eternity, Joshua from The World Ends with You, and my OC Iruka.

10. What is the line you’re proudest of from “Concrete Faith”? This is a hard toss-up between, 

“Each step he took seemed to land on glass that was already cracked, splintered so deeply inside that no one else could see the danger until everything fell out from under his feet.” 

and the line everyone keeps quoting to me in the comments:

“This wasn’t about pride; it was about control, and Daniil was desperate to feel controlled by something other than fear.”

15. What is the fanfic you’ve written that you’re most proud of? I really like “Restart.”  But I’m also very proud of Support (And Other Ways to Make Friends) because that’s the first real long story I’ve written and finished.  So...sorry, another tie here aha.

38. What story of yours are you surprised that people liked as much as they did? “Concrete Faith” lmao.  I was not at all expecting an extremely niche nonsexual kink fic in an obscure fandom to be one of my most popular stories.  I really just wrote that for myself and for you, but I think it’s probably my most popular fic aside from Support in terms of kudos:fandom size ratio.

Bonus one with 'overgrown' for Oracle?

I love this because it’s basically just pure, sweet, self-indulgence for the two of us.  Who’s Oracle?  Not canon, but absolutely the best of girls.

Khan woke with a start as every bit of air in his body was crushed out of him, like his chest was a jam-filled pastry in the hands of a starving five-year old.  The worst part was, he couldn’t inhale again, either, thanks to the seventy-five pounds of overgrown fur and muscle that had just flopped her way on top of his covers.

“Oracle,” he hissed, “move--”

She did not, instead nudging at his chin before licking it, and Khan squirmed under her in a manner that was completely undignified until his chest was free enough to take in more oxygen.  “You’re too big for this, girl,” he said uselessly, dropping his head back to his pillow and patting her head anyway.

Oracle barked, pleased with herself, and clearly unwilling to compromise.
