"Who did this to you?" -- Busan (FEED ME MORE OF THIS CRACKSHIP I AM ABSOLUTELY RABID FOR IT)
Something possessive lay in Busan's tone and Lucy didn't know what to do with that. Not that she wasn't wanted before, not that there has been no thing with teeth and claws that had stood over her with bared teeth like a hyena over carrion. But it has been a long time, and even those that did it were easily redirected. Lucy knew many things about herself but one thing she knew for certain was she was easy to leave -- by design, not by any exact failing sometimes (although there was that too). She was out of practice though, let the fox linger too long over a body long regrown and cold again. It wasn't peace. It felt like beetles swarming where Busan buried her face in to her hair, like something crawling under her skin. It was a wonder she didn't feel the vibration. Could she? Did it matter? Lucy pushed that aside and looked at her with the flat blue eyes of a corpse. They shone oddly -- her pupils didn't dilate, didn't move in the low light -- stagnant. Lying didn't come easily, so she pushed off any notion of saying she couldn't remember. But the arm was scarred, the raised red keloid overlapping and slithering all the way up to her shoulder. "It was a long time ago," she said, and at this point all of them were with the exception of a few. "Before I really knew how to deal with demons. I don't even know if she's alive." But she hoped she was.
