Well, crap nuggets… I knew Patience Wright was from Oyster Bay, so I got curious and looked up if she would have known Robert Townsend. They’re cousins… I know that doesn’t mean they can’t still be a thing in the show’s little fandomverse, especially in that time period. Although, she was old enough (late 50’s to early 60’s) to be his (early 20’s) mother or maybe even grandmother in real life, which likely also would have deterred anything, despite cousins marrying back then. Just feels kinda icky to write them that way. So… I think I’m scrapping the fic, or else turning it into a familial friendship thing. I dunno… If I go by how the show portrayed them (they certainly looked close in age in it), I could still do what I was going to. What do you all think? I can always do different characters with either of them, but I liked the idea of the introverted, devout Quaker and the practically-a-party-girl Quaker getting together.
