Warnings: Fluff. If you haven’t yet, go listen on the Album Version of Six: The Musical. You’re not going to regret it.
A/N: I love musicals, okay? Don’t judge me for having a character who disagrees with me. XD
“I don’t understand why you keep insisting on dragging me with you,” Jason buried his hands into his pockets. “I hate musicals.”
His friends ignored, but he continued to simply practically pout to himself. It was cold outside, he was shivering, the line was too long, and he hated musicals. He had no reason to be waiting outside a theatre to watch one; how he had managed to let his friends drag him along to this one, he had no idea.
“Yes, we know,” Ellie fished their tickets out of her purse. “You left it very clear when you paid for your ticket.”
“And when we agreed on the time we’d meet,” Joe added.
“And on the way here,” Bill noted. “Which reminds me: Someone please give me a ride back home, I don’t think I can take him complaining on the way back home too.”
The rest of their group just agreed. It had been Bill’s idea to come; according to him, his sister Beatrice was one of the six main actresses - she played Catherine of Aragon - and he wanted to surprise her by bringing some friends along. It was a different play, at least that was what he knew so far. Something with the six wives of Henry VIII and lots of pop music - at least that was how Ellie had sold them the idea.
About ten minutes later, they sat down, shrugging off their coats, and removing their gloves just as the theatre’s light went dark. When any sound reached them, it wasn’t exactly what he was expecting. For starters, only female six silhouettes in... wacky costumes walked from behind the curtains.
“Divorce… Beheaded… Died,” they chanted. “Divorced… Beheaded… Survived.”
The curtains were pulled and the lights came on, and he knew he was in for something very different from what he ever expected. Pop music, short bouncy skirts, trousers, a girl in an Ariana Grand styled ponytail and shaking hips… Yes, this wasn’t what he thought musicals were looked like. And they… Danced.
Okay.
“That’s my sister,” Bill whispered by his side, pointing at the actress in yellow and a spiked tiara.
Yes, he’d caught up with that when they introduced themselves. Aragon, Boleyn, Seymour, Cleves, Howard and Parr. He’d studied them in school when talking about the creation of the Church of England.
“London,” Aragon walked to the front. “How are you doing tonight?”
He tried capturing their faces and identifying who was who among the cast, but his eyes definitely kept darting from the other five to the Boleyn girl. Something in her was just too endearing. Maybe it was her acting, her cheekiness, still smiling and looking loose and natural while following the choreography, or simply her beauty, she was captivating.
“Well, Mr I hate musicals,” Rose whispered to him when Aragon’s solo ended, giving space for clapping and cheering. “You’re looking very smiley.”
He felt his cheeks flushing and was thankful it was dark enough that his friends wouldn’t be able to see his cheeks reddening from blushing.
“Shut up.”
