Song Diary Day 312: "My Posse" by Patrick Noth
After not thinking about this song for the better part of a year, it popped into my head yesterday. And it's still there today. It's a really good song, and one of the most clever raps I've heard, so at least there's that.
And in the time since I last listened, the song has taken a slightly more sinister undercurrent. When the crap hits the fan with the posse, there's a section about how the judicial system has failed the common man through legal wrangling by powerful organizations. And then, of course, there's the line about the murder of the rap partner: "Acquitted in the famous case of Posse v. Ferguson."
While the song predates the events in Ferguson, MO, that line has become way more powerful in recent months because of the tragic demise of Mike Brown. When I heard that line the first time, I thought it was funny. Now I just hear sadness and disappointment on that line(but the rest of the song is still great!)
This guy loves sushi the most.
This is easily the hottest track of the year. Maybe even the century.
This song is dedicated to everyone that loves to party.
