image 3+4: unit plan + courtyard view - each one-bedroom apartment includes a “front porch” that overlooks the building’s courtyard (and shields the apartment from the direct view of people walking by on the way to their unit).

50,000 sq.ft five-story mixed-use affordable housing building with 42 one-bedroom units for low-income residents with special needs. Each apartment has its own private balcony.
ground floor provides office spaces for WHCHC (West Hollywood Community Housing Corporation) and other non-profits.
Steel framing with long span decks are used to accommodate the parking grid below (underground for residents) and to minimize floor to floor dimensions.
Access to the units is from an outdoor bamboo courtyard which also serves as a garden for residents. The building includes common areas for residents as well as for public use. Laundry facilities and other support spaces are also provided.
