Zahi didn’t necessarily care what people were interested in buying, but he did prefer when they were there to shop and not just chat. He sighed and shook his head. “Look, I’m glad you appreciate the weather, but I do have some plants that aren’t so appreciative of it.” The store carried a few plants with ice in their name, and it wasn’t a shock to realize why. He wasn’t trying to be rude to a potential customer, but the man wouldn’t stop talking.
He turned toward the singing petunias in the window. One of them had been out of tune all day and was driving him nuts. Her soil acidity had probably changed somehow, and he needed to figure out how to keep her happy and content. “Do you know much about plants?” he asked over his shoulder as he tapped his wand against the pot. It flashed a few different colors in a diagnostic test.
