TV Series to Watch when Working
While many of us need their quiet while typing or working or reading, sometimes the sound of our favourite television series can be quite soothing and provide entertainment for those rare lapses of concentration.
Here are some suggestions.
Set in the 90s Mad About You follows the life of a New York couple - the Buchmans, portrayed by Paul Raiser and Helen Hunt. As we follow Jamie and Paul Buchman through their daily lives the situations they end up in are always endearing and funny.
A TV series which started in the 80s Murphy Brown successfully made the transition tot he 90s. Starring Candice Bergen as its title character, smart, tough and funny journalist Murphy Brown, who is known for asking the 'tough questions'. Running for 10 seasons and winning 5 Emmy awards for Bergen, Murphy Brown sets out the perfect example of aTV series centering on a smart and sassy female character, who as it turns out has a terrible luck with secretaries.
Starring Fran Drescher, this TV series follows the experiences of the live-in nanny of the Sheffield family. It seems that the moment Fran Fine moves in with the Sheffields everything changes. Although she is meant to adapt to their habits, it seems that all of them suddenly have to try to accommodate her in their daily routines. They also need to get used to her voice.
This is the definitive sitcom. Probably this is what people think of when they hear the word 'sitcom'. Focusing on the lives of a group of young friends in New York, this TV series not only provided entertainment for years on end but also secured itself endless reruns, proving its timelessness.
Although unconventional families are a conventional topic for films and TV series, Frasier somehow made it through 11 seasons. That's probably due to its brilliant humour (especially the banter between brothers and psychiatrists Frasier and Niles and their ex-cop father Marty) or the often unbelievably amusing situations Frasier had to partake. Or maybe it was the dog Eddie.
