Ok, but hear me out...
Usually when people write a Warden Emmet thing they put him as the warden for either A) Sneasler, B) Electrode, or C) Braviary
Which are all fun and valid options.
But, like, what if Emmet was appointed Basculegion's warden instead?
Either Iscan is injured after saving Paulina in the storm that killed the original Lord Arcanine, or someone finally took pity on the poor man and decided he needed a way less stressful job near less ghosts, and so Emmet gets appointed.
Emmet vaguely recognizes basculegion as both familiar and not, and likely runs around terrorizing the F out of the local pokemon.
He and Paulina would most likely have a similarly antagonistic relationship as Ingo with Melli, seeing as Paulina would be pissed Emmet replaced her boyfriend, and Emmet would likely be confused about Paulina not working with Growlithe to get stronger.
(Paulina has a point about not trying to push Growlithe to get over his trauma, but she's also not providing her dog with any actual help with his issues, and I suspect she is subconsciously doing so just to spite Irida, seeing as she's shocked Growlithe would go to rescue his friend at all. Growlithe pair bond, you should know this, why are you surprised? Also why are you not helping your dog get through his fear of water when you're required to live by the water?)

Anyway, I think going out to get Basculegion's help and getting jumped by Emmet as soon as you knock on his door would be hilarious. Sudden difficulty spike! It'd be neat if he actually had you battle Basculegion to test if you're worthy or not.
He would probably actually help you on the Manaphy quest too... Instead of having to just guess you need to look at a book in BDSP for what pokemon you need, and then looking it up online anyway.
