Amazing book
While being in Berlin I visited few art shops with many books made by designers. I really liked a lot of them but today I will talk just about one. The book is called “How to make repeat patterns” by Paul Jackson. It’s an amazing book dedicated to designers, architects and artists.
Today at university I was talking with my friend about our projects and he started a topic about patterns. I immediately remembered that I saw very cool book in Berlin and I told him about it. He said to me that I should check if we don’t have this book in our university library because we have a lot of interesting artists’ books there. So I checked it and there were 2 copies of this book available. I decided to borrow this book and study it at home.
The book by itself is made in a very interesting way with a lot of illustrations and a bit less descriptions. It’s very intuitional and easy to navigate. Every tutorial is described very precisely and supported by illustrations. You can learn a lot from this book about patterns, how they are made, how they work and that they are not as complicated as they look. You just need to open your mind and use imagination. I never thought that you can make such an amazing patterns by duplicating and rotating just a single letter.
In overall this is a book that I totally recommend for everyone who is into design but not only. This book is designed very well and will catch eye almost everyone who will open. You can see there some amazing pattern designs between chapters that are inspiring a lot.

“BLOWN AWAY”
by Paul Jackson
Watercolorist Paul Jackson spent his childhood in Mississippi where he discovered his passion for painting in college. Now living in the Columbia, Missouri area he is a signature member of both the American Watercolor Society and National Watercolor Society, his work has been featured in a wide range of publications, and his paintings hang in the Missouri State Capitol and Supreme Court, and in the Governor’s Mansion as well as countless private collections. Not limited to working on paper Jackson designed the Missouri commemorative state Quarter and has also applied his talents to painting on walls, as with this piece at the corner of Broadway and Hitt Streets in downtown Columbia. Supported by a crew of helpers, mostly family, Jackson said he is hopeful that the work would help build “mural fever” in the area. @pauljackson/
