Out of sight out of mind?

Yeah likely a big part of what’s going on. And seeing as the dominant policy response is going to be banning the separate poor doors, apparently keeping things out of sight is wholly preferable here even if that means more of the mandated social housing units are getting built in neighbourhoods that are already very poor.

I mean, if we want to use developers’ profits from selling housing to rich people in order to supply housing for poor people, honestly might be more efficient to let the rich people build a tower packed with units for rich people, tax those units, and redistribute the proceeds to separate organizations who would handle the housing provision end of things. Not sure whether it makes more sense to tax the developers directly or just raise property taxes to make this happen. It’s basically all going to be passed on to the eventual tenants, but not like they’re hurting.

Right like... yeah this isn’t going to overhaul the education system in America but let me tell you schools have real needs that that money can address (I was about to lay them out here but I realized you work in fiannce ish so probably can guess what they are?) and I bet it makes SOME impact so really fuck everybody tbh.

I don’t understand how people can “successfully” “cheat” (quotes around each for different reasons) with how prevalent social media is. Seems way too easy to screw it up on accident.

This is actually something that is interesting to me! So while I make phone calls I’m gonna muse about it BELOW the cut

1. I think you can stay off of social media if you make it clear that you’re not super into that shit in general? Like neither the boy nor I are big on couples pictures, tagging locations yadaya... he’s been on IG once but otherwise that’s it. Even when I put it up I was like “is this a thing you mind me doing?” It’s been like that with all my exes, really. And they do the same to me.

The catch is your partner has to be like... cool with that and respect that. But I think even if someone said “I’m gonna tag you in this” and I didn’t want others to know cause I’m cheating or whatever, I’d just go “oh hey, can you not do that? I’m just weird about facebook and privacy” and if that person’s cool with respecting me then bam. No social media.

2. Guy number 1 may not have been cheating on her... technically? But personally I think it’s best for people casually dating to not do all those couples photos or whatever (like... what if we DID keep dating and I found out about that and I really liked him?? I’d be kinda miffed). I also think a lot of other people have that same mindset, which is why you see that shit and you think that someone isn’t getting the right message.
