one typical flaw pertaining most to the arrogantly and stupidly rich, was the sheer lack of awareness that one possessed, seemingly only when the wallet within their pocket contained more than the insides of their skull. it was as if it was bred into them; passed down generation to generation, that whilst you could be fabulously wealthy, beautiful and stylish, you could not also be smart.
osiris had never imagined that walking back late at night from anywhere could really be dangerous. criminals targeted poorer people, surely, in far more rougher parts of town. but wherever this was, he was soon due to learn a lesson that perhaps all rich folk were due. the pulsating lights of the club echoed within his eardrums long after he passed into a much further part of the city, his heart still racing from an evening of dancing and chatting. he’d been offered a ride home, but he waved it all aside. ‘ i’ll be fine ‘, had been the shout, amidst the sigh of defeat from his entourage. and so, he was alone. well, partially. as he walked, rubbing herself against his heel was his purring liepard, the feline pokémon a distraction from the foreboding sense that came with walking alone at night.
long black coat billowing in the winter night behind him, perhaps even at the less gracious hour of four am, he looked akin to a movie star strutting along a set, with the tall manner with which he walked and the almost unnatural way he held himself. aloft, proud. purposeful. such are the traits of a young man so blessed, so privileged indeed, but with that privilege came an ignorance so apparent, it was a wonder he did not see it himself.
turning the corner he came to a darker road than before, a lamp flickering in the distance. a jittering spotlight. it was only then that he withdrew his phone, pulling up the contact for his driver as the silent night slowly began to unease him just slightly. the liepard yawned, stretching out her back legs before sitting upon the pavement beside osiris, washing her face with a gracious paw.
