Pavo Rime Teal

@pavotextiles Rime Teal came home with us from IBC and it is so remarkable. This alpaca/cotton blend feels cool to the touch and not nearly as dry as my Etini Darling felt. There’s something a little soapier about it. Rime has the overall microtexture that I love which holds a single knot with no problem, but also allows passes to move into place. It is the cousin of Texture Series for a reason! In some ways, at first blush, it reminds me a bit of Pavo Ring System, which I adore.

There’s a bit of stretch but not a ton. It also has medium moldability so it’s easy to get a decent chest pass but it’s not quite ace bandage material yet. I do think, with a little breaking in, it will get there. It is thin and compact feeling also. In this pic it’s obvious as it’s sitting in a pile of size 6′s and its profile is that much sleeker. Out of the gate, it’s not as floppy and soft as Etini Darling (the only other alpaca/cotton I’ve owned), but I almost like it a bit better because of that cool-to-the-touch feeling. 

Obviously, the design is edgy and fun, and while it’s not monochrome, the teal is so rich that it’s almost a neutral. I can’t wait to see how this breaks in.

Pavo Etini Darling Baby Alpaca/Cotton

Let me start by saying that this winter introduced me to a fun wool sensitivity. While I had no issue with Woven Wings and its low content, Pavo Form started to give me irritation and I thought I’d be sans animal fiber for the remainder of my wrapping career. However, alpaca and even more so, baby alpaca, doesn’t seem to be an issue. Every body is different, but maybe something helpful to others thinking animal fibers are not for them.

@pavotextiles Etini Darling is 66% cotton, 34% baby alpaca and 304 gsm, but feels thinner in hand. The in hand feel is actually a bit of an enigma for me--it’s dry but a silky sort of dry, if that makes any sense. It took a wee bit to get the chest pass just right, but not nearly as much work as say, my first go with Sketchy or Scalene. It feels dry and airy with a bit of soft stretch, but not too much--like it will be perfect for summer, and it is already pretty darn snuggly soft. It held a half knot, no problem, but I had to do a proper #erinknot obviously. The drape is also quite lovely and elegant, and check out those pleats! We didn’t go up for long, but it’s clearly solid and I believe it will prove to be comfy on the shoulders with just a bit of cush. 

I’ll end by saying that pink is not my favorite color, but the wrap qualities in this lovely may have me rethinking this whole color prejudice thing...
