“How did you get so smart?”
"Well..I r-read a lot."
"You won't be needing that eye anymore, might as well take it out."

No, Emily covered her stitched mouth, her eyes wide with glimmering fear. She could not speak her detest, the thread pressed her lips shut, dry and crusty. Fear rose within the pit of her stomach and her face drained of color. A whimper mumbled from within her throat, she didn't want to get rid of her eye. Dear little Emily didn't want a blindside, someone to catch her off guard. The thought of being weak was more frightening than the pain that would come from her gouged eye. It would be a mess, too. And nobody would want to clean that up, waste a perfectly good eye, she might as well put it in her chicken soup.
Please, don't make me do it, The child whimpered within her own mind.
--And why not? You deserve the pain.
I do, but, I would not be able to handle it,
Typical, typical Emily, not being able to handle the world around her. Such a weak child, pluck out both eyes so she would not see herself in the mirror.

“I don’t know, I don’t know! They all just…. Just got up!”
"Don't leave, please.. I'm sorry for what I did to you.. I promise I'll never do it again."
She knew the child didn’t mean to get her in trouble, it wasn’t her fault, really. It was Amelia’s own fault for not planning ahead, she had been careless and careless lead to trouble.
She could almost feel the sharp pricks of the whip, the clean way it broke the skin of her back. The bandages were in place, however, and she would be happy to never think of it again.
"It’s -er- fine… Emily.." she didn’t sound sincere enough, but how could she express that she didn’t place the blame on the girls too thin shoulders? There weren’t any words so instead she sat with the child a while longer, flinching as every movement brought pain to the forefront of her mind.
