Transistor Talk Fast with Amir Rao. A very neat, fast interview about Supergiant's creative goals.
At PAX Prime Katy Goodman had the pleasure of chatting with Supergiant Game’s Greg Kasavin about their up-and-coming title, Transistor.
I found something interesting in this interview. Greg states that the demo starts right after the beginning of the game. The PAX Prime 2013 demo was updated to start right as Red pulls the Transistor from the corpse. From the previous demo we know that there is an entire scene where we see Red get teleported to another location in Cloudbank. She takes a few steps and she sees the Transistor. Those are a ton of assets I feel like they'll use. I doubt the first thing we see when we start the game is going to be a picture of Red with text scrolling over it. That was clearly the early build's design to fill you in on what's happening and still intrigue you. I know Supergiant definitely won't go for that approach because, A: they like giving the player action as soon as possible and B: they recognize the strength of hearing over reading. So they might give us a very short cutscene ala Bastion where it's just a still image with voice over or sound on top of it, or we'll get to play right off the bat and then discover how actually the Transistor helped Red out. All of this is subject to change. Remember, before Bastion came out the whole idea of the game was entirely different from a gameplay perspective. It was going to be centered around growing Buildings and Weapons and so on. Everything they do they repeat it until it feels solid, like they did with Bastion. So we might see an entirely different segment for the first level. Supergiant are amazing and the very notion that they want their fanbase to see the game as soon as possible is great. I place my faith into them and I wish them the best. Transistor is my most anticipated game of all time!
The updated build of Transistor shown at PAX Prime 2013 accompanied by an interview with Greg Kasavin asking a few things about what they want to do with the game.
Sadly the only uncut footage of the newest build of the game and it's not direct feed and we can't hear a lot from the audio. It looks terrific though and the changes since PAX East are apparent.
Another interview with Mr. Kasavin about the duo that is Red and the Transistor. PAX Prime 2013
A lengthy Interview with Greg Kasavin about Transistor and what his expectations about the game are. Really nice questions asked. PAX Prime 2013
Ashely Barret and Darren Korb performing Build that Wall; Setting Sale, Coming home and the song from the Transistor Reveal trailer, We all become at PAX Prime 2013. Really great performance by both of them. Ashely has an amazing voice. Sadly she doesn't have much of a voice acting talent. Darren is a great musician and I am glad he picked Ashley to do the vocals.
Another interview with Greg Kasavin by Rev3Games' Adam Sessler.
