Concepts for new Payment Systems #1
Often bars and restaurants are a very crowded place. This doesn't really matter when you are enjoying you meal or your drink with your friends. But if you want to leave you first got to pay. And this is where the competition starts. Music is playing, people are talking or almost screening because of the noise level, knifes are scratching on plates and other people are calling for the waiter too. If you think about this situation you'll know what other problems could occur. How could you attract the attention of the waiter in this situation or afterwards tell him who of your circle pays the beer and the coke and who pays the chips and the tasty cocktail. In many cases this is a very challenging task. But first you have to wait for the waiter. Maybe that is the reason why he is called this way.
I thought of these problems during my master studies at the Hochschule für Gestaltung Schwäbisch Gmünd. The concept below addresses all the problems I talked about in the above paragraph. It combines the good things I wanted to keep and adds new elements to the payment process. What do you think? Are there some things you like about it? Or is there something you don't like?
1. Call for the waiter! This keeps important social interactions.
2. Tell him you want to pay.
3. The waiter hands the payment terminal over to you. Now the waiter has some "free" time to care for other costumers.
4. The game starts: Place your credit card near the payment terminal.
5. Drag the things you want to pay in your payment zone. Communicate visually in a noisy environment.
6. Tips are a good thing. Drag some money in your payment zone.
7. Finish the payment process.
8. Say goodbye with a social interaction and hand over the payment terminal to the waiter.
