There’s something not right with this one. She’s got her fingers extended and resting along the surface of the cold tabletop, studying the young being from where he sat across from her. Originally, she was looking to talk to his mother - diplomacy and all that. Lots of big wigs to please on behalf of her egotistical and sometimes arrogant husband, and her otherwise pushy and stubborn wife. Trying to smooth the tides over to get ease-of-passing through someone else’s territory, promising no one will misbehave (and then later enforcing it in her own men), all that good, good stuff.
But there’s something completely unsettling about the young man seated across from her that just barely triggers that uncanny feeling. Something utterly familiar, something she knows she’s read about before, but can’t quite place. The historical notes on his mother added up, but there was very little data on him personally.
Also... why did it feel like he could see right through her? Like something wasn’t adding up. She put this human skin on for a reason - most earth-esque humans don’t like it when monsters come asking for parley, but something tells her he might be able to tell she’s not exactly the human she appears to be.
Hands tighten, fingernails lightly scratching the surface of the glass table in between them. It leaves a minuscule scratch that human nails shouldn’t be capable of, despite the dull appearance of her otherwise ‘human’ nails.
“So...”
The air is dead quiet as she eyes the guards at the door, her own protection sitting in her lap in the form of a giant toad-like beast.
“Will your mother grant us permission to ferry, or do we really gotta travel ‘round your cutesy-” gigantic- “little parade here?”
