It's Paz whump hours: while Din is away on his long, protracted "court all the mates with meaningful gifts" mission, Paz is abducted.
It's not an easy feat. He's a big guy. Boba and Fennec might not have believed it without the fact he went down protecting Drash on their walking patrol of the town, and when she woke up in safe shelter of the locals, they told her they saw him dragged away unconscious.
Boba and Fennec are livid when they find out: Boba gently examining Drash's bandages to focus his ire and worry somewhere as Fennec summons Krrsantan, hatching a plan. If there's one thing this pack of former bounty hunters know how to do, it's find people.
They know they have a limited window. The longer Paz is missing the lower their chances of finding him-- alive or at all.
The palace is shut down, all business is routed through Garsa with Krrsantan and the modders supporting her. Boba and Fennec depart to find their would-be mate. They all agree not to tell Din until Paz is home safe... or his body recovered.
The alphas' search takes them deep into the unmapped regions of Tatooine's desert which is almost as difficult as if Paz had been taken into space. Boba has never been more grateful for the burgeoning network and alliance of the Tusken tribes.
Their search leads them to an old munitions storage bunker neither of them even knew existed. It looks like part of an abandoned town almost buried beneath the sands. There are transports parked nearby. Unfamiliar figures stream in and out. Fennec sends in her miniature reconnaissance droid.
They find Paz. He's been stripped of his armour, strung up and appears he was beaten like an interrogation. His helmet and armour is being poured over and priced by a cluster of what looks like surviving members of the former crime families, the ones who would not accept Boba's rule. The drone only captures still images to provide a scan. It's impossible to tell if he's alive or just unconscious.
Boba barely strangles the keen in his throat. They must have done this in retribution against him. Fennec's cold anger focuses his grief like a laser sight: it doesn't matter if it was for revenge, the bounty of his armour, or their personal enjoyment. These people took what is theirs, they desecrated his honour, and they are going to die.
It takes them almost an hour to cross the remaining distance at march. Thanks to the borrowed robes of the sand people, their approach is undetected.
Their careful, steady pace breaks into a run when they hear blasterfire, the muffled boom of an explosion. They finally reach the storage munitions' tall blast doors as the rusted, jaws of the door shudder open.
Paz staggers into the late Tatooine sunlight, bloodied, bruised, the tatters of his flight suit pulled to his waist, half his armour re-clad and the rest dragged in a sack at his heel. His helmet is back on. His other hand is clamped over a blaster shot at his gut. More score marks of burnt flesh litter his exposed skin where his captors clearly tried to stop him when he refused to go down in a last, desperate bid to live.
Paz has the constitution to take the damage. Privately, he's glad it was him and not Din.
The moment he sees Boba and Fennec, he collapses to his knees, the remaining fight and adrenaline leaving his body.
Boba and Fennec are immediately at his side, checking over his shoulder for lingering threats.
"Dead," Paz croaks, voice destroyed from days of dehydration, starvation and torture. "A-all dead." He's a Mandalorian, after all, it just took him a while. He slumps forward, burying his visor against Fennec's soft front and shaking as his alphas carefully wrap themselves around him, mindful of all his wounds. "W-what are you doing here?"
Boba and Fennec exchange a pained look over his head.
"We... we came to rescue you," Boba says, guilt choking his throat because their failure is written all over Paz's body. And those bastards took his buy'ce.
Paz could truly never return to the covert now.
"Oh." Paz's arms close around Fennec's waist, holding on. "Thanks."
Fennec clutches him back, arms carefully wrapped around the back of his helmet. Her mouth pulls in an involuntary grimace of pain. "We're going to take you home."
It's somft thought time, please consider Din realizing just how little time Boba and Fennec have on their own -- after all, if one of them takes the day off, the other one will be holding court -- and deciding he's going to do something about that. So Din plans things out, gets up early, and by the time Boba and Fennec are awake Din and Paz are already armoured and ready to go downstairs and hold court. Yes, they'll be fine. No, they don't need Fennec to stay. No, the whole operation is not going to fall apart if you take a day off and spend some time with your mate, Boba, please relax.
I have no idea what those two idiots would even get up to on a date but honestly I think the night would end with them drinking at Garsa's and look. I just think the image of Boba and Fennec at a strip club is very funny. (possibly with explicit instructions from Din that if Fennec wants to play, she's allowed. Din's fully aware that Fen's gotten close to one of Garsa's girls and as much as Fennec loves their pack, she still kind of misses women sometimes okay)
Din and Paz holding court, as it turns out, goes better than they expected. Din has the time of his life playing up being just the daimyo's poor sweet omega, trying to manage court and in over his head, until whoever he's negotiating with dismisses him as a threat and Din can go for the throat. Paz has never been more in love.
Hahaha this is so fucking cute and I endorse it completely.
For Paz and Din to get up early enough to beat Boba and Fennec, it's seriously dark hours. Fennec is always the first to rise and at first she wonders if perhaps they slept somewhere else the night before but... no, wait, she does remember climbing over them to get into bed and tugging Din to spoon him from behind before she fell asleep.
Sound from the adjoining fresher suite draws her attention and, yes, there they are: fully armoured with Paz pushing his fingers through his freshly showered hair and Din helping him buckle the shoulder of his cuirass.
Fennec sits up in bed, immediately on alert. "Are we under attack?"
In bed at her side, Boba stirs groggily. His hand closes round her wrist and he squints at her in the dim.
Seeing that, Paz and Din exchange a small smile. Paz shakes his head, reaching for his helmet on the armour stand as Din crosses the room to sit beside their master assassin.
"We've planned... something for you," he says softly.
Fennec stares at him. "You know I hate surprises."
Din's hand gently closes over her own in the sheets. "What if... you and Boba took the day off?"
"What for?"
"To spend some time together."
Fennec glances down at their daimyo blinking at them sleepily from his pillow. They share a suspicious look. She looks back at Din. "Din, are you covering something you don't want us to know about?"
Boba reaches across her lap for Din's hand, gripping it gently. "We won't be upset, cyare."
Din looks between them, an incredulous look growing. "Is it so hard to believe we want to give you some time together? One of you is always holding court or carrying decisions--"
"Baby, that's the job," Fennec says.
"We knew that when we overthrew Bib Fortuna," Boba murmurs, endlessly patient with their covert mates, they didn't necessarily appreciate the ins and outs of these ways. "Someone always has to sit on the throne."
"We know," Paz crosses the room, armour gently clinking. "Din will hold court."
Boba and Fennec blink from Paz to Din.
A beat.
"You?" Fennec doesn't mean to sound so dubious.
"I've seen you both do it for months. I know what to do."
Boba sighs and he squeezes Din's hand on Fennec's knew. "Cyare--"
"Boba," Din cuts him off, his voice fallen to that cool, gravelly order that makes his targets sit up at attention and his mates inwardly cringe with warning. "Fennec. The world will not end if you leave us the palace for one day and spend some time together."
"Wh--" Fennec stammers, glancing between her silly, confounding mates, armoured and ready, realising they've resolved on this. "But why?"
It's Paz who responds, disarmingly gentle. "You never get to."
Fennec sputters and throws a look of incredulity at Boba who is looking equally confused. "Puppy. Baby. We're not like you, we don't need--"
Din leans forward, holding her eye, deadly serious. "You're going to take this time together and you're going to enjoy it, or so help me."
Fennec raises an eyebrow. "Or?"
"You don't want to know what," Din mutters. "Come on. Use your imaginations. Take the time. Enjoy each other. I know you've missed the girls at the sanctuary."
Hmm. Well. There is that.
"Fen." Boba strokes her wrist, fingers sliding up her elbow and she has to resist from inwardly squirming with that little flutter she still gets when Boba says her name with that rumble. "Maybe. One day. What do you think? Shoot some targets on the back rim? Take some time at Haller's spa. Rest. Finish at the sanctuary?"
Fennec purses her lips. It's not a bad idea at all. The thing is that she and Boba just don't have that same level of... softness and indulgence they mutually share with Paz and Din, that's not how they started nor what they've ever needed... but does it mean she loves him any less? No! It's just... different.
But would it also be so terrible if they indulged each other a little outside necessity?
Boba is searching her face with a soft expression, but there's a guard behind his eyes, something bracing for her refusal, and she knows he wouldn't hold it against her. But maybe it would mean something to him.
Her shoulders slump, and she leans down to kiss her daimyo in apology. "Okay. Just one day."
Gently in the background, she hears Paz and Din share a victorious little fist bump. It makes her smile. Boba and Fennec are so lucky to have them.
Din’s pack before Boba gets accepted into his nest: Why doesn’t he like our gift... why won’t be relax in his nest... :( vs Din’s pack after Boba’s accepted into his nest: We’ve created a monster. Din hasn’t left his nest in 72 hours. He’s forgotten what sunlight feels like. He bit Fennec when she tried to drag him out. Help.
When Paz reached the top of the stairs, he frowned at the figure blocking his way. Fennec stood at the top step, leaning precariously as she peered round the corner.
"What are you doing?"
Fennec jumped, actually jumped and scowled at the way he towered over her with unspoken expectation for her to move.
Gesturing with a finger to her lips, she tugged him down by the collar of his cuirass.
The next time she peered round the corner to the daimyo's private wing of the palace, Paz leaned around with her.
"What are we looking at?"
"Sent a maintenance droid to get Din out of his nest. It's been a week."
Paz considers the intricate braid atop Fennec's head, demonstrating her fine attention to detail, order and patience. He glances back to the squat maintenance droid gesturing with its spindly arms before their consort on the threshold of his nest.
Din looks rumpled, helmet askew, like he just woke up from a nap. He shoulders sag and he cocks a hip, arms crossing tightly.
"Why would you send in a droid?" Paz asks.
"I tried to get him out and he bit me!" Fennec hisses. "That nest needs to be cleaned."
"... You sure he wasn't asking you to stay?"
"He won't be rude to a droid."
"Have you met Din?"
Fennec hushes him, waving him to take a further step back.
Up ahead, Din is inclining his head. He seems to sigh. Then he moves aside and lets the droid pass. Stares after it for a moment before strolling across the hall into the shared quarters where the rest of their tribe had been waiting for him to return.
Huh. Din just kept finding new ways to surprise him. The old Din would have sooner shot a droid than even humour a conversation with one.
When Paz and Fennec enter the sleeping quarters, they find Din already bundled down with the sheets pulled up to his chin. His helmet is set on the bedside armour rack. His eyes are shut. He looks halfway adrift to asleep already.
Paz and Fennec exchange a concerned look.
Din stirs at the gentle fingers Paz wraps around his ankle.
"Hey. It's dinner time. Did you eat today?"
A soft happiness rearranges Din's features when he turns on his back, seeing them, but then he shifts to his other side without a word. Nuzzles into the pillows where Fennec's perfume still lingers, Paz knows, he'd done the same that morning.
"Baby." Fennec settles on the bed beside him, back to the headboard. Din hums, smiling, when she brushes the hair back from his face. "We thought you'd come to court today."
Din's smile thins into a line.
Fennec keeps stroking his hair. "I am so, so happy you're enjoying your nest. But this isn't like you. Hiding. What's going on?"
Din's mouth twists, sheepish, almost pouting. A long, heavy sigh expels from him. He opens his eyes at the new depression of weight as Paz settles on his other side and strokes his shoulder.
Din's eyes flicker up to Fennec. "I can't go back there."
"Court?"
Another sigh. They shift when he moves to sit up, settling shoulder to shoulder with them against the headboard. Din's knees pull up protectively to his chest. He rubs tiredly at his brow, sighing again. His wrist falls against his knee and his fingers flick in dismissal.
"I went down on my knees for him," Din mutters under his breath, shaking his head. "In front of... all those people. Offered him... you know."
Paz's eyes widen. Din is talking about the banquet. Din hasn't worn his chain since returning to the palace and, per Paz's demand, once the anchor came out again, Din hasn't put it back in. Too complicated.
Paz looks at Fennec in alarm, but of course she can't see through his visor.
Din's lower lip is trembling, expression wrenching gently. His voice cracks. "He barely looked at me. And all of them saw it." He shakes his head. Tears are brimming in his eyes. "No... no, I'll come back for him, for you, and...." His hand closes on Paz's knee. "But I can't go back there. Fen. I... I wanted to, but... I'm sorry."
Paz covers Din's hand with his, heart sore. He can only imagine the sort of humiliation Din must be feeling. He's tried to imagine how it would be to feel so small and discarded by the one who took him in. He hopes he never learns.
"You don't have to," Paz says.
Come away with me, he wants to urge. Stamps that down because he's seen the way Din looks at them and knows the answer would be 'no'. He won't leave them.
"Din, you don't have to do anything you don't want to," Fennec effuses, cupping his cheek, thumb stroking beneath his eye when he instinctively nuzzles it. "I'm just glad you're getting some fresh air from that nest. Can we bring you something to eat?"
"I'll get it," Paz offers.
Din squeezes his hand in gratitude.
"And do you want me to talk to him?" Fennec offers quietly.
Din is already shaking his head, looking tired again. "No. It's not him. I don't-- I just don't want to go to court."
Fennec nods affirmatively. "No court."
Din sulks, expression as plaintive as Paz has ever seen it. "Could I just... do jobs for you? In the background? Where nobody has to see me?"
Fennec hums affectionately and leans in to hush him with a kiss. "Let's just get you some dinner. We'll talk about the rest later."
Din slumps back against the headboard, despondent but at least he's not arguing.
Rising to his feet, Paz catches Fennec's sharp look of concern. Din is back. He's doing better. But he's not alright. Not by a long shot.
Friday morning thot for you that's like... Half somft half crack. Little monsterbaby ad'ika eats just... So much. Din spends so much time nursing. And Paz spends so much time watching and yearning bc he wants to help Din but also he really wants that bonding opportunity with their baby. Adenn, as is their way, proceeds to fuck around until Paz lactates.
Friday morning thot transformed into my Sunday evening delight. I love this 🥰
cw pregnancy, lactation, breastfeeding, non-consensual body modification though Paz is ultimately into it, slight breeding kink
When ad'ika is born, she's one of the biggest newborns Paz has ever seen. He's quietly impressed Din managed to push her out and he understands why Din got so tired in the final months of carrying her, if so much of his energy was devoted to helping her grow. The pack had taken to one of them remaining by Din's side at all times as a passive energy source, and it proved to be a precious time for bonding one-on-one as well.
Paz is relieved that, after ad'ika is born, Din still needs them close.
Garsa's contact warned that with Din's cubi biology, he would likely lactate even if their child inherited his ability to feed on affection. They had to assume she would.
All her other parents take every available opportunity to feed her themselves, cradled close and talking to her gently, shorts walks that never take her far from Din as she blinks back at them with large, dark eyes yet to set their final colour. It's not clear how much this sustains her.
In Paz's mind, Adenn rumbles about the clarity of the child's eyes, the strength of her hands, like it knows anything about babies but Paz has his doubts. It's Paz's favourite time of the day when he gets her all to himself, nestled in the crook of his elbow like she was made for it. He tells her about his family, Concordia before the fall, how she would have had so many elders around to care and guide her if things were different.
His heart pangs for the life their daughter will never know, but when she blinks back at him so trusting and sleepy, he falls in love with her all over again, an almost overwhelming surge of hope and joy and protectiveness nearly buckling his knees. He feels she might forgive him.
He raises her to bury his face in her soft, swaddled belly, purring contentedly. Tiny hands swat and grip his hair, but she's too young to really complain yet.
"Child is strong," Adenn rumbles with approval behind Paz's thoughts, and he swells with pride. "And hungry."
Frowning, Paz pulls away to look.
It's true. Even with all that focused love and attention, ad'ika inevitably gurgles and gnaws at her tiny fist as she always does, hungry for something more. Paz pushes away the rub of disappointment that his adoration is not enough to fill her belly.
"Weaved her strong. She needs to feed," Adenn says, sensing his thoughts.
Paz doesn't quite understand what Adenn means when they talk like that. It was Din who grew her, they don't even know who her other parent is among them, all agreeing it didn't matter because they would love her just the same. But Paz wouldn't put it past the entity to have interfered somehow.

"Baby, I'm not suggesting anything elaborate," Fennec is sitting on their bed with Din when Paz enters their private suite. "I just know you're not getting enough and you're feeding for two now."
"I'm okay," Din says.
Both their eyes light up when they see Paz enter with the bundle in his arms.
"Oh!" Fennec holds out her arms, beaming. Paz has never seen her smile as much as since the little one has entered their lives. She all but scoops the baby from Paz the moment he's within range, crooning, "How's my little monster?"
Paz forces down his sting of disappointment. He will have an entire lifetime to hold their baby.
"Hungry already?" Din asks.
Paz chuckles, apologetic. "She's always hungry."
"Thank you," Din smiles gently, taking their daughter from Fennec's arms.
Paz lingers by the bedside, hands on his hips. He watches Din open his shirt. When his milk came in, Din's chest didn't get much larger, probably due to his past surgery, and Paz has privately wondered if that's part of why ad'ika always gets hungry so quickly.
He doesn't want to suggest it to Din. Din is doing his best. Paz wouldn't want him to feel insecure. But even Paz's chest is bigger than Din's. He glances down at himself, then to his riduur and the baby at his teat, comparing. Yes, Paz is definitely bigger.
"I have to join Boba, but he'll be with you from high noon," Fennec says, leaning in for a quick kiss and Din smiles, tired. "Love you." She nuzzles their baby's cheek, burring loud with affection and grinning when the little one grumbles, disturbed. "Love you."
Paz smiles when she hops up to her feet and rises on her tiptoes for him, face tipped up. He steadies her with a hand on her hip. Kisses her, gentle and sweet. "Love you," he tells her.
Fennec's eyes are bright and glittering with her smile. Love is a good look on her. "Love you," she whispers back.
Paz always takes a seat in the comfortable chair across the room to give Din a semblance of privacy. This seat used to be the coveted view for when the pack would take Din apart on this bed, but in two short months their lives have changed so much.
They are all so tired run off their feet catering to their child's whims, none of them have been thinking about sex.
Well, that may not entirely be true.
"Fennec asking you to feed more?"
Din doesn't look up from the baby in his arms, sighing. "Something like that."
"You been hungry, cyar'ika?"
The endearment earns him a glance and a little smile. Paz is so charmed how Din still lights up for them like their love has the ability to surprise him.
"I don't know," Din confesses, stroking their child's dark head of hair, thumbing her small ear. "More tired. But that's normal, right?"
"Yeah." Paz wrings his hands together, debating with himself. "Is there... something we could do to help feed her better? With our energy?"
Din glances up at him. Their sweet beroya. He looks so tired. "I don't know." He sounds regretful and embarrassed, it's only in recent past he learned about his true nature. He mutters, "I feel so unprepared for this."
Paz studies him, his softly mussed hair and the slow way he moves. "There could be merit to Fennec's suggestion. And maybe it would help her, too. Better nutrition."
Din snorts under his breath with a gentle smirk. "Nutrition." He gives Paz a knowing look and Paz just smiles back. Din's eyes soften. He nods to the empty space beside him. "Lie with me?"
They hardly bother making the bed these days with how rarely Din leaves it. Paz still pulls the sheets straight and settles on top, leaning against the headboard. Din shifts to cuddle his side, sighing with contentment when Paz's arm wrap around his shoulders.
In his arms, the little one finally detaches from the teat with a little burp, eyes shut.
"She fall asleep again?"
"Mm," Din hums, shifting her up to his shoulder to burp her properly. Paz enjoys her dopey, slack expression over Din's shoulder.
"And how are you, mesh'la?" Paz combs fingers through that mussed hair with the hand round his shoulder.
Din appears to think about it seriously. He pouts. "My nipples hurt."
Paz stifles a laugh at the sulking tone. He gently squeezes the arm around Din's shoulder. "I wish I could help you with that."
Din looks at him and his considerable chest. That little smirk is back. "If only."
Paz grins at his teasing tone and cups a large pec with his free hand, weighing it with pride. "They're big enough, right?"
Din looks like he would laugh if only he had the energy. "The biggest. Here." He passes ad'ika back to him, to Paz's surprised delight. "Let her suckle on you. Might keep her asleep. Let me rest."
Paz blinks as the bundle in his arms yawns wide, squirming. "Er, I don't have any milk."
Din waves him off, already turning his back to Paz and sliding down into a proper sleeping position. "She suckles for comfort."
The sheet is pulled over Din's shoulder and then he is out like a light.
Paz stares at the little girl in his hands. Glances at Din.
What could it hurt?
///
Paz startles awake with a brief snort, unsure what woke him. His senses, thrown wide, sense no danger. The sun is almost high in the sky outside.
He is still sitting up against the headboard. Din sleeps on at his side.
And where ad'ika nestles against his chest, she gurgles wetly, suckling at his bared nipple, eyes shut in contentment.
The seal of her mouth is conspicuously white.
Another pinch of sensation makes Paz gasp with a wince, as though his entire pectoral muscle just seized, and he realises that's what woke him.
"Ah, ad'ika, wait--"
She whimpers as she's pulled away from his chest. White drops well up from Paz's nipple where she had been fastened a moment ago.
Paz stares, uncomprehending. He swipes fingertips at the liquid and finds his hands have clawed, black veins standing tall.
"Adenn," he growls. He glowers from his hand to his chest to his baby who is blinking awake, struggling to focus on him with accusation for interrupting her meal.
His tongue darts at his fingertips. It's sweet.
His cheeks heat, embarrassed.
What did you do?
The entity's answer is a rasping laugh.
"Oh, puppy."
Paz looks up.
Across the room, Boba stands on the threshold of their suite, eyes bright with interest. He's staring at Paz's bared chest where his nipples are dark and swollen and beading milk when their baby whimpers.
Boba has that look of a plan brewing, eyes sharp, hungry smile growing with all those teeth. He sheds armour and kute as he crosses the room, one piece at a time.
"What's the old goo done to you this time?"
Paz hurries to fasten ad'ika back on his chest before her cries can wake Din. He doesn't know what he's doing. The way she immediately settles strikes him with sudden pride.
"I don't know," he says.
Boba stands at his side by the bed, hanging his armour. "You can feed her."
"I don't have any answers," Paz wards him off before he can ask.
"Does it hurt?"
"N-no."
"Does it feel good?"
Paz feels the blush up to his ears at Boba's suggestive tone and stubbornly refuses to look his way. "Different."
A smooth, scaled touch closes on his shoulder. "May I?"
On his left pec, their baby girl nurses, blissfully half-asleep and oblivious to the world. His right pec beads milk in sympathy, neglected. Boba stands on his right.
"Um," Paz stammers. "Okay."
He is not ready for the way Boba sinks to his knee and leans forward in one fell swoop, reptilian tongue extending forth. He sears Paz's bare nipple in a broad, long stripe.
Paz shivers at the sensation, conflicted at the frisson of heat that fans out from that point of contact, almost hunching protectively round their baby.
Boba hums, watching Paz's face. "Sweeter than expected. But seems safe." His head cocks. "Adenn change anything else for you? I wonder...."
Paz stiffens at the warm hand that curls round his upper thigh and smoothly delves between his legs. The breath catches in his chest as Boba palms his cock and balls through his loose pants, fingers curling, seeking with a practiced touch.
"Boba!"
With ad'ika attached to his chest, Paz immediately understands why Din has shown virtually no interest in sex since the birth.
Boba purrs and pulls his hand back. He almost sounds disappointed. "Worth a shot."
Paz stares at him, ears ringing.
Worth a shot? Was Boba hoping to find something else between his legs? Maybe... something more like Din?
He's suddenly assaulted with a mental image of himself groaning face down in this bed, knees spread wide with Boba hungrily hunching his hips against him with conspicuously wet slaps of skin.
His mouth waters. His cheeks burn.
"You always wanted a big family, didn't you, puppy?" Boba smiles at him like he knows exactly what he's imagining and the glint of those teeth is a promise. "Well, you better get moving. Fennec's waiting. If you can nurse the little one, take her with you."
Paz all but scrambles off the bed. He feel steam should be coming out of his ears. "Oh, could you... feed Din?"
Boba smirks at him, already kneeling on the bed at their sleeping riduur's back. "I intend to."
Paz barely remembers to grab his modified armour and the baby's armourweave on the way out, urgently stamping down on the fading feelings of arousal. He doesn't know if he'll ever grow immune to Boba and Fennec's seductions.
He looks down at the miracle of what Adenn did to his body, still hardly believing his eyes. This could mean a lot more time spent with their baby. It could mean a lot of things for them.
"Okay," he grumbles aloud at his inner companion, "Maybe you're good for something after all."
.
.
.
And then, yes, Boba does rock Din awake double-hilted in all that clenching wet heat, and Din gets an entire afternoon's worth of the best meal he's had since before his baby was born.
Fennec develops a predictable borderline obsession with Paz's massive milkies.
Everyone refuses to thank Adenn.

EDIT: btw @bellsyblue wrote the majority of the scene that puts Paz into his existential crisis (for those who follow the asks, it may look familiar; i just edited it for style and added some further nuance, with permission)
Din is offended.
He was in town today, spending time listening to the murmurs of the city. When he returns to the palace, Fennec surprises him with a thorough, bruising kiss to the scar on his neck shaped like her bite. Her hands grope his ass, pulling him against her until he's grinding on her thigh as he groans and whines under her mouth.
When she finally lets up on her assault on his neck, there's no doubting the darkness of the hickey she left. One hand lifts to Din's nape, tugging him into a firm kov'nyn as their chests heave as one.
"Love you, baby," Fennec finally says, voice gravelly. Din belatedly notes the low growl she had approached him with has disappeared. When Fennec finally pulls away, Din cocks his head as she stays closer than she usually would, leaving a hand on Din's hip. It's almost...proprietary.
"Everything alright?"
Fennec's expression tightens, her passive-aggressive business smile setting hooks in her cheeks. "Fine," she says. "Just a long day."
Din leaves it; he'll ask around, maybe Boba will know what's upset their mate.
Beneath his buy'ce, a thrilled little grin twists his lips. My mates.
It's not long after they part ways that Din finds his own reasons to be upset.
Someone left their scent on Paz.
When Din heard the suite's main door followed by Paz's distinct steps, he'd been looking forward to greeting his big blue idiot. He might even have been hoping to talk Paz into an afternoon nap with cuddles, maybe some affectionate, lazy sex.
Instead, when he goes to greet Paz and help him disarm and shed his beskar'gam, he's greeted by a wash of foreignstrangerinterestinvitation.
Din doesn't know how long he's been standing there, butted into Paz's space but not moving from the death grip he had on Paz's gauntlets. His throat is raw--he's been growling.
"--cyare?" His displeasure is doused by Paz's tone: unsure, almost...afraid. Not good. "Uh--Din? Din, what--"
"Off," is the most Din can manage. It takes a moment to break his own grip but soon enough they're working in tandem to get Paz's armor off. Din finds himself growling lowly throughout the process, something he tries to stop when he notices it putting Paz on edge.
It's bad enough that Paz's armor and clothing reek of other--but somehow it's gotten through to his skin, too.
Din pulls Paz down into a sharp, tongue-sucking kiss that makes the big man moan and sway closer. The cloying stench of someone else has Din deepening the kiss for a moment, Paz swallowing his growls in exchange for quiet, barely-there whimper-whines, before pulling away. He shoves a shuddering Paz towards the fresher, saying, "Go. Run the water. I'll handle the rest."
Paz's brow is creased with confusion, though Din's devouring kiss seems to have chased his insecurities away for the moment. He leans down to share in a kov'nyn, sending waves of that stink over Din. "Join me?"
Din's eyes shut and he breathes out deliberately, trying to diffuse this unfamiliar anger. "Of course," he manages eventually, eyes opening to gaze into Paz's deep, beautiful eyes.
"...okay," Paz murmurs, pushing into the kov'nyn momentarily before he steps away, heading for the fresher as ordered.
The moment Din hears the water shower running, he shoves Paz's armor into the cleansing unit they use to remove the worst of grime and debris when necessary, setting it to sanitize. He gathers the kute and soft underclothes Paz had been wearing and momentarily wars with himself, full of unfamiliar territoralism.
After a few quick, angry moments, Din checks through the clothes--nothing special; some of the spares Boba and Fennec had provided him with, nothing he knows to be Paz's favorite. The rush of smug satisfaction he gets when he dumps the lot of it in the kitchen's incinerator is worth any questions Paz may have if he ever notices.
//////steamy (lol) shower sex scene/////
In the morning, before they separate to start their days outside of the suite, Paz notes that his mates—ner riduure, he thinks, smiling dopily—each seem to touch him...more. He's not entirely sure what it is, but something about their actions is just...more, this morning. More affectionate, more proprietary, more deliberate and focused.
He really doesn't mind.
Sometime late in the morning, Paz notices the way some of the day's guests seem to...paw at him? It's...almost reminiscent of the familiar affection Boba and Fennec grace him with when they're in public. Light, almost teasing touches, deliberate-incidental brushes against him. It makes something uneasy settle in his gut, something in his brain itching and buzzing.
Paz cannot afford to sour the waters with Boba's allies; he does his best to mind his manners and suffer the awkward discomfort with quiet dignity.
/////transition//////
"You deserve fine things. You deserve…” the merchant leers at Paz, eyes taking in the breadth of his chest, the solidity of his thighs and hips, “to be pampered."
Paz quickly sets the gift back on the table; it is not, as he had thought, an attempt by the merchant to ingratiate himself with Boba’s gotra. An argument is on the tip of his tongue because even the suggestions this man makes feel… blasphemous. A verd's existence is a utilitarian one: any resource lavished on one is something that could have been spread among at least three.
That is, if he was still among the tribe.
His admirer presses on, leaning into Paz’s space. "Don't you deserve to have your needs considered, too?"
Paz stills, shoulders pulling tautly inward, repulsed at the mere suggestion. To even think about it makes his gut churn in shame. That was not his role. That was not the Way.
The merchant doesn’t seem to notice Paz’s reaction to his words. "Wouldn't it be nice... to be protected? Cared for the same way you fight for these people?"
Paz takes a breath to argue. He reaches for the easiest example to counter the suggestion he doesn't already benefit from such things...
His voice cracks in his throat.
When was the last time?
Loyalty, solidarity... surely there must have been?
His admirer presses along his right side, warm and firm where his armor doesn’t cover, and Paz too stunned by their words echoing through him to stop the sympathetic arm that wraps behind his waist, nor the hand encircling his elbow like a comfort.
Their voice is hushed and warm, thick and sweet like caramel. "When was the last time someone put it all on the line for you? Don't you deserve to be cherished?"
Paz's jaw tightens, trembling with the surprise of emotion that thought brings. His eyes burn with the sting of hot tears. He realizes he's shaking his head not because he's agreeing but because these questions are absurd. The words make him ache, make him feel small and foolish and so, so vulnerable and he can't stand it—
"Don't you deserve to be first for a change?"
And with that, Paz's heart falls through his stomach. His throat feels swollen shut when he tries to swallow past the hot stone abruptly lodged there. His next breath is a wet, rattling gasp that wracks his frame. It’s almost a sob.
First? What would that even look like?
Paz is so caught up in the thoughts—the emotions—that this man’s line of questioning has stirred up that he doesn’t register when Boba calls for the merchant’s attention, voice raised loud and strong over the bustle and background chatter. He barely feels the hand on his bicep squeeze before the merchant’s negligible weight is back on the man’s own two feet, the arm that had been around Paz’s back trailing over kute and beskar lingeringly as the man leers up at Paz. “I’ll see you later, sweetheart,” he winks, then turns to Boba fully, striding away to make his case before the throne.
Paz doesn’t know how long he lingers in the numb autopilot state, not processing anything outside of potential threats (it’s a reflex, at this point, even half out of his mind).
//////Paz existential crisis//////
Hours later, at the high point of the day when court will see the most traffic, Paz is trying to figure out how to escape the new mayor without either making a scene or offering offense. He’s had enough of strangers fawning over him now that he’s noticed it. But things are still a bit rocky with the new governance, even with months passed since the disastrous feast, and the last thing they need is contention with the new mayor.
(He’s not bitter that none of his mates seem to have noticed or intervened. They have more pressing concerns at court than keeping an eye on their bonded, even if that turn in their relationship is still new.)
Paz is almost ready to lie through his teeth about a prior commitment and escape back to the suite for the rest of the day. He doesn't get the chance.
“Oh, my,” the mayor says, gaze focused somewhere other than Paz finally.
Given the way the entire court seems to be suddenly distracted, even the musicians faltering momentarily, Paz turns to see what has caused such disruption. If he’s lucky, it’s someone he’ll need to throw out on the sands.
Paz isn’t sure if what he sees is lucky or not.
For several breaths, all eyes in the hall are focused solely on the figure draped in shimmering silvery sheer silks.
Aside from that one time a few weeks ago, when the mayor’s attention sent him into a panic, Din hasn’t attended court in anything less than his kute and helmet. The only bit of armor Paz can see on him right now is his kom’rk, polished to a perfect mirror shine. Even the blue triangles on the hand guards freshly painted.
Everything else Din is wearing must have come from Garsa.
Silver-grey silk, somehow the exact shade of pure beskar, hides little of Din’s form. The pillowing harem pants are little more than panels of fabric with short belled chains between pieces, Din’s lean, strong thighs flashing between the gaps. The wide waistband and cuffed hems are embroidered with blue thread to match the triangles on the back of Din’s hand guards—and on Paz’s buy’ce.
(It’s been decades since they were young fools sharing the last bit of sky-blue paint, swearing to always have each other’s back, to always be one the other could rely on.)
Most stunning, however, is the veil hiding Din’s face. Somehow, some atelier has created a magnificent imitation of Din’s buy’ce with layers of nearly-sheer silk, though it bares his hair. The darkest inner layer, styled in a mimicry of his T-shaped visor, allows just the barest shadow of Din’s features. More silver chains and bells weight the layers and hold them in place, maintaining Din’s honor as well as any armorer’s work.
The silver chains artfully draped over Din’s torso sing as he moves down the stairs into the hall proper. They converge at his sternum where his beska’rta—or at the very least, a facsimile of it—lays, a couple more chains trailing around his ribs, almost seeming to highlight the mirrored scars that frame Din’s muscular chest. Saliva pools in Paz’s mouth at the thought of following those chains with his tongue.
////sexy sexy public fuckening {secret deets I refuse to spoil}////
So ik you said that at first Din was ashamed about the nest that his partners built. At what point did he decide to accept it? Add his own stuff, deliberately start to scent things, arrange the items they collected because even tho they meant well they didn't get it quite right. And how did his partners feel when they realize that Din was spending time in the nest bc he wanted to, not just to avoid them?
Boba is the key.
The morning after their conversation on the cliffs, where Boba laid everything bare, begged Din for another chance though offering him the option to leave with anything he would need... Din wakes up the next morning and everything is different.
They returned to the castle the night before feeling shaken but grateful for each other's courage.
At the fireside, Boba had admitted his wrong and been brave enough to beg for forgiveness. To beg for Din's happiness. All the doubts and fears that had almost prevented Din from joining Boba on the cliffs were dispelled with each word.
Boba loved him. Boba wanted to protect him. But it was going to be different from then on.
Din was not quite so good with words, but his response was clear enough when he rose from his perch, walked round to Boba and sank down to the spot beside him, removing his helmet.
He looks into the fire rather than Boba's naked eye. "I never meant it to go so far," he mumbles. He's thought about it every night since he fled, asking himself why didn't he insist, why didn't he teach Boba and Fennec how to treat him?
He can feel Boba's gaze on him. The hand that trails through his short hair elicits a shiver.
Boba is quiet and patient, touching him so tenderly, fingers brushing his cheek. Din catches his hand.
"There are going to be changes around here."
Boba nods. "I agree."
Din entangles Boba's fingers with his and brings it to his belly. "Peli said... " He scoffs uncomfortably. "Talking. We should talk more."
Boba's free hand turns Din's chin and then Din is gazing into dark, sorrowful eyes. It almost makes Din quail in turn, hurting for what he sees in Boba's expression.
"I want to know," Boba searches his face. "If you're hurting. If you're angry."
An involuntary smile tugs at Din's mouth. His head ducks. "If I'm... scared," he says it like a joke but they both know the truth of it.
Boba's eyes are shining with tears when Din meets his eye again, the daimyo's mouth pressed in a shallow scowl. His voice is hoarse. His thumb strokes Din's jaw. "I wanted to carve out the heart of me... knowing I made you fear me. I'll carry that shame forever."
His hand drops. Din clutches tighter to the hand still captive against his lower abdomen.
"I'm not... the greatest conversion partner," Din stammers, grateful the evening will hide most of his embarrassed blush. "But I'll try. If you will."
Boba stares at him. His eyes widen. "Din...."
"All of us," Din amends.
Boba's hushed. He shakes his head in incredulity. "I love you."
And Din's been waiting, dreading... hoping, and now that the moment is finally in front of him, he doesn't know how they ever let things get so bad that he could ever fear Boba when he could look at Din with so much trepidation and hope, too, like Din holds the secret to making or breaking him.
Perhaps he does.
Din invites Boba back to his nest that night because once he has Boba back in his arms, he can't bear to let him go.
Paz excuses himself quickly and modestly, understanding the two need privacy. Din doesn't wait to see where he goes. He trusts Paz will be fine.
He does not see Fennec on their return.
Boba holds him through the night. They talk, kiss, nuzzle and sleep, but they do not make love. Not until the morning when Boba's vambrace is beeping them awake and Din sulks without meaning to betray his disappointment.
In the aftermath, everything is different. Their scent -- the scent of Din's other alpha is finally soaked into his nest with its layers of stolen and offered belongings. He'd been so ashamed at the evidence of his need to be close to them. Now he's so grateful there is so much to cushion their bodies and soak up their scents, marking this territory and each other.
Love, not possession.
"Come with me today?" Boba asks him, tugging his boots back on by the edge of the nest.
"No more hiding," Din sighs to himself.
Boba pauses, frowning gently with a thoughtful glance. Din feels he's revealed too much again. But that's the point.
"I'll be right behind you," he says, and Boba accepts it, drawing Din's hands between his two and kissing its back with such tender longing, Din's eyes almost water all over again.
"Don't take too long," Boba says as he leaves.
In the aftermath, he stretches out, languishing in the padding of its many layers, chest brimming with gratitude. It's not perfect, but he's going to make some changes around here.
