Sobek in all his aquatic glory!
what is pc:e if not for fucking around as dinos
low quality but guess who got pc:e ✌️
honestly one thing i think all PC players can agree on is that Cryo is the hardest class to use succsessfully. its most certainly one of the slowest and squishiest (in fact its THE squishiest dino at 200hp) while its counterpart, Dilo, has a DoT-causing bite that can affect multiple humans at a time, and a spit that blinds humans for 5+ seconds and 220 hp (all things that point to Dilo being a hit-n-run class, darting into a group, biting everyone they can, and leaving to let DoT do its job. the spit, in PC:E is now a “stream” rather than the “spray” it used to be, so now spit can only affect 1 human per hit. i think the old spray-style spit should be brought back to push Dilo further into the hit-n-run class style) the Cryo has only a NORMAL bite and a spit that only blinds for about 1 second. this is fine. but its speed is the exact same as Dilos, despite being squishier. i think that Cryo should be a smidge faster, to help it outrun humans that may get too close to it. Cryo is a more of a sniper style class than Dilo, being too squishy to take on a group (or even a lone Pathfinder after CU1. holy shit does Pathy do a lot of damage now, more on this later) and lacking that sweet, sweet DoT that Dilo has, Cryo is better on the sidelines taking out unsuspecting humans. Technically Cryo /does/ have DoT in the form of the spit puddles it leaves. Humans standing these take minor damage, just enough to be significant, but not enough to really rely on.
however. humans can get pretty much everywhere Cryo can, due to Cryo having an inferior jump and low speed. the jump was somewhat fixed in CU1, as Cryo can now get on top of the shipping crates that litter the docks and other maps, but the speed issue remains that Cryo cannot get away from humans in time to save itself should it get into a bind. I feel it should be faster /and/ that a direct hit by Cryos spit causes DoT similar to Dilos bite, and possibly using up a smidge less stam to spit.
Because at the moments, near every human class can 1shot the poor thing. Dont get too close to Pathfinder, dont stand still in a high place out in the open or a Scientist /will/ snipe you, the Pyro can have grenades that 1shot any small dino, and the Commando, well. everything about him explodes anyway so thats a given.
Now this is all fine. It is. the humans /should/ be able to 1shot the small dinos. however the Cryo is not fast enough to get away from a human in time, and most Cryos have to resort to bunny-hopping to try and survive an encounter with humans. this should not be the case, dinos should be able to run away and strafe to survive, bunny-hopping shouldnt be needed. im not saying it shouldnt be /used/, im just saying that it shouldnt be needed. now, at this point most people say shit like “just dont get close to the humans! just dont go into a group and youll be fine” fair point but consider this: thats fucking boring. no one in the history of ever wants to spend 20 minutes virtually parking their virtual dino atop a virtuial building to spit at virtual humans. only to get sniped from behind anyway, and have to make your way /back/ to that same building, where you will encounter humans anyway. so getting o your “sniping spot” is dangerous, and you will have to get up close and personal with humans.
but that shouldnt really be needed, because, again, no one wants to sit in the same virtual spot for 20 real minutes. so Cryo can /stay/ a tough class to use, but it needs a bit of beefing up to make it not only more distinct from Dilo, but also and equally viable choice.
so to recap, Cryo needs: Higher speed, slightly higher jump, DoT for direct hits with spit, possible less stam usage for spit
*tiniest roar*
