“there was a lass i met one day, one day on the shining sea. a smart young lass with long gold hair, pretty as pretty can be.” imogen sang the shanty to herself under her breath as she strolled down the beach, kicking rocks occasionally as she went along. she’d abandoned her shoes long ago and let her hair down. she had finally gotten a little moment to herself, and she took advantage of it to wander the island on her own. “she smiled at me and stole my heart, for my heart it was hers to be. but then one night she ran away, left me on the shining sea--” she reached down to pick up a shell, and as she bent over, she got the sinking feeling that she wasn’t alone. she sighed, straightening and slipping the shell into her pocket. “might as well say something now, unless you want my fist in your face.”
