Entities in Question: my pc witch Monday
Gotta kick start this jam session! This post is me talking about some entities I’ve wanted to work for for so long but still haven’t, and maybe I’ll explore why.
“Call me what you will, but I stand only for justice!”
This beautiful bastard is Lyude, from Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean.
Lyude is 17 at the start of the game (18 by the end). He’s an imperial soldier and ambassador to the Empire. The Empire that is doing some seriously shady, fucked up shit behind the scenes and all the soldiers are basically in a cult of pillage and murder. When Lyude realizes this he makes a very difficult, necessary choice: to turn his back on his own people to protect the world against the evil of his emperor. He is considered a traitor, though his sacrifices help save the world.
I fell in love with Lyude as a character instantly. He is so gentle, kind-hearted, unassuming. In the beginning he really does try to blend into the background but he always has a tendency to rebel against injustices. We find that out right away, and he only gets louder and more outspoken as the game progresses. Unfortunately he also deals with a lot of anxiety and guilt, as well as trauma. His heart is so so soft even when the world is not.
Every character in the game fights using magnus cards with a theme based on the character. He may carry a big ass gun but all the moves he loads into it are based on musical (mostly brass) instruments and his special attacks include such moves as: crescendo, diminuendo, concerto, and sfortzando. It’s really entertaining to see some red headed twink shout out a musical term before running up to an enemy and repeatedly beating them over the head with his gun.
I think I have so much in common with Lyude. The anxiety, guilt, thirst for justice and rightness, drive, fear, it’s all there. And I feel like working with him could bring me to a place where I slowly am able to see my own worth and stand firmly behind my choices. We could also work together to strengthen magical abilities tied to music!
Anyway that’s all for now. This is kind of an obscure game but if anyone read this and has questions about the game/entity/whatever let me know :)
