[Review] Out of the Blue by P Dangelico
“Out of the Blue” is P Dangelico’s latest contemporary romance release. It’s a stand alone book, that follows the story of Blue Baldwin an ex-paramedic and current animal rescue worker and Shane the mysteriously stoic older brother of a disgraced Hollywood A-list star.
Blue is a complex heroine and the story really shows her growth as she comes to terms with an incident that drove her out of her busy city job and out into the animal rescue farm that she works on. She begrudgingly agrees to helping Aiden, a troublesome Hollywood A List star who has agreed to help out at the ranch for community service following a string of stuff ups in the press. As she learns to handle managing Aiden’s selfish attitude on the ranch, she becomes attracted to, and falls for, his older brother Shane who has come along to keep Aiden on the straight and narrow.
I loved Blue and Shane’s interactions - especially when she’s clueless as to him being a celebrity author himself. Shane for his part tries to ignore his attraction to Blue but fails as she tries to date other men and he can’t handle the jealousy.
He is a relatively closed off character and this book does deal a lot with the rift between the two brothers and how that influences his hesitancy at pursuing anything with Blue.
Whilst I couldn’t put this book down, much like with all P Dangelico books,I acknowledge this isn’t one of the easiest reads in her line of contemporaries.
It’s still steamy where it counts, and the character build up is great, but it definitely deals with harder issues and isn’t a light read in my opinion. I do look forward to what I HOPE will be Jess and Aiden’s book, but I also am unsure whether that will eventuate and whether this book will not be followed by another in a short series.
Again P Dangelico writes a fantastic, emotional contemporary romance in Out of the Blue. If you’re looking for slightly lighter reads I would however recommend:
-wrecking ball
-bulldozer
-baby maker
-you can have Manhattan
Just to name a few!
