What is Princess Dagney and the Seahorse King about? O.O I seen ya art for it but haven't read it. But the characters look adorable ^^

Princess Dagney and the Seahorse King takes place on earth centuries in the future after a rise of Shapeshifters have come and gone. Humans have reclaimed their autonomy and Shapeshifters are either hunted or gathered up to be sent to a prison or remain in hiding in small clans.

Dagney is the princess of the kingdom of Olthandrynn, her father is an escapee of the Shapeshifter prison known as Hell, and it's known he is a Shifter. He only has his freedom because he saved a king and was used as a secret weapon during a war, which is how he met his now-wife, Gwinletta, who would become queen shortly after they met. She wed him in secret and he is now, essentially, free, but that doesn't mean he is universally liked.

Years later, Dagney is their eldest child and heir to the throne, and has a younger brother and sister, and it's revealed there's another sibling on the way. Because of a disastrous miscarriage, Gwinletta can no longer have children, but with Dargon's Shapeshifting and the help of doctors and scientists, Dargon is capable of having the children, and Dagney and her siblings were all born from him.

During Dagney's 14th birthday ceremony, her brother, Bensith, becomes violently ill. During a trip to an ally's kingdom, they're attacked by assassins sent by one of Dargon's personal enemies, King Rinwey, who was once engaged to Gwinletta. Rinwey's father was a gatekeeper to Hell and was murdered during a routine outing in the prison, which Rinwey witnessed and has harbored a hatred against Shifters since (even though, I mean, Rinwey's dad kind of had it coming lmao)

Dargon, however, has bigger things on his mind like saving his son. When he goes to another kingdom to retrieve a compound to create Bensith's cure, he's apprehended by Rinwey's allies and taken to his kingdom of Gelleshire. Dagney rushes to aid her father, and after a series of events, they're surprisingly helped by Rinwey's twin sons, Colme and Olerqus, who ask a favor in return. They help Dargon get the compound to Bensith, and then they embark on a trip back to Hell - to save a Shapeshifter girl Colme fell in love with that his father sent to be imprisoned.

Along the way, Dagney and Dargon learn more about their heritage, and even meet their ancestors, most notably Malgam, the former king of the Shapeshifters, which basically means he's the former king of the world.

Ultimately it's a sins of the father/breaking the cycle of vengeance themed story
