Nicholas Calcott

Whether he’s shooting architecture, an interior, a still life or a portrait, Nicholas Calcott brings a mix of discipline and playfulness to his work. He does that using a combination of muted tones and pops of colour, straight lines and wild curves. “I work with lines and geometric figures, but if something looks too pure, I might fold in a rougher element, or include something more spontaneous.

I like his graphic approach to his work, paired with the use of vibrant colours makes the images really stand out and grab your attention right off the bat. His aerial shots are carefully laid out in a messy way. There’s a tension between places and happy coincident.

Anastasiia Sapon for PDN

After being named one of the 2017 PDN 30 winners, one of Anastasiia Sapon’s award winning images was chosen for the cover of the newest issue of PDN magazine.  The issue features the 30 New and Emerging Photographers to Watch and includes an interview with Anastasiia​, as well as a feature on another PDN 30 winner: SAINT LUCY artist, Adam Birkan.

Adam Birkan and Anastasiia Sapon PDN’s 30 2017 Winners

Adam Birkan and Anastsiia Sapon are two of the newest artists to win PDN’s 30 New and Emerging Photographers to Watch. Beginning in 1999, the prestigious contest recognizes emerging artists who are creating exceptional imagery within a variety of styles and genres.  Photographers must be nominated by industry professionals or invited by PDN to submit and are then narrowed down to 30 winners from over 300 nominees. Adam and Anastasiia are profiled  in PDN’s April 2017 issue.  Read their advice for emerging photographers and see their winning portfolio on newsstands now.
