moscow’s makeover, cover story for bloomberg businessweek (july 2017)
ay, as we’re hurtling through november I’ve realized there are many projects that I haven’t shared here this year, several of which are now up on my site. I’ll share some snippets in the coming posts.

deeply grateful to be included in PDN’s 30 new & emerging photographers to watch in 2017.
this would not have been possible without my family and friends who, with very few reservations, have continually supported me in this unconventional career choice, nor without fiercely supportive photo editors who get it.
to all of the awesomely talented folks on the list, i'm honored to be among you. let's party! then get back to work.
read up on the interview & check out the other folks here.
get the print issue on newsstands april 1st.

NYCballet corps performing “swan lake”, lincoln center, ny (jan. 2017)
from NYTimes, “Being in NYCBallet’s corps is not like being a member of a chorus line, or a backup singer. The company promotes almost all of its stars, the principal dancers, from within. So while the corps is expected to be able to move in startling unison, its 54 members are also competing for bigger roles and promotions. Sasha Arutyunova took this photo of the NYCBallet during a performance of “Swan Lake”; Claire Kretzschmar is among those pictured. @nytimes shadowed the 24-year-old rising corps member during the first week of the company’s winter season. The takeaway: It was exhausting. She danced in all 7 performances, appearing in 5 ballets, sometimes changing costumes at intermission to dance 2 roles in a night. And that’s not to mention company class each morning, back-to-back-to-back rehearsals, costume fittings, physical therapy, and hair and makeup.”

excited to share the premiere of a music video I directed with Jacob Blumberg (a debut of sorts for me) filmed entirely on 16mm on a Bolex H16 & an ARRI SR2 for the sweetest talent woman Sarah Jarosz
thanks to NPR Music for the words: "The stark black-and-white imagery in the video, including intriguing and inchoate images of naked flesh (both Jarosz's and her costar's), reads like exploration of the area beyond previous comfort zones. This video requires multiple viewings — at least once each for images and then for lyrics and music." @nprmusic
