A Crow's Life???? 👀👀👀👀👀👀

I was reminded of the heartbreaking occurrence where birds tend to fly into glass buildings because they don't recognise that it's solid, and then I thought, hey what if Mephisto was a lil baby crow in a forest near the N109 zone... he flies astray after he grows up, crashing into one of the city's many skyscrapers... and gets rescued by Sylus?

The only way to save him was turning him into a cyborg. The story would be centred around them getting to know each other. Mephisto slowly adapting to this new body that makes weird noises and can do so much more. Sylus adjusting to having a chatty, opinionated pet bird around him.

Through Mephisto's eyes, you'd get to see more of Sylus's nature too, in a more innocent light.

We wait for Master's children to bring the human I've been tracking for him. Master paces around. His shoulder is harder to stand on than usual.

"Master, are you excited?"

"Quiet, Mephisto."

I peck at his hair for that.

wip-heavily-under-construction that might never see the light, but here's a little snippet from it that I'm fond of. canon divergence where Sylus sacrifices himself to save you both from his curse. reader is reborn as an archaeological linguist sent to decipher some mysterious runes left behind on a desolate mountain.

A few surviving accounts from the League of Justitia describe a 'Fiend' that caused significant destruction to several settlements and parts of the Ivory City alongside a human sorcerer. A large battalion of soldiers were summoned to mount an assault against it, but ultimately did not come to fruition, as the creature seemed to disappear overnight. Following these events, there are no extant mentions of this Fiend up until the fall of the ancient Philos civilisation soon after. — Footnote #109. The Annals of Philosian History In Antiquity

These are gonna be literal crumbs I'm so sorry hahaha I only have the major story beats for the archaeologist fic sorta figured out, and there are a few twists and turns involved that wouldn't make much sense by themselves. I got two three tiny tiny tidbits for you.

One random line!

The inescapability of his fate dawned on him once he tasted the exquisite wine and salt of you on his tongue—this vengeful hunger of his would never settle for mere morsels of a soul so divine.

peanuts and trail mix, endless paperwork, navigating academic hellscape, creepy supervisors, bad cramped stinky hotel rooms, brushes and chisels, knee and back pain, digging poo holes with a pickaxe

Part of my inspiration

I don't know where, but I found a resource on Sumerian literature (literally some of the oldest written work we've been able to translate) and was reading through them to see if anything struck me. Here's a passage that (among other things) inspired this idea:

32-36. "On this day I will descend to the underworld. When I have arrived in the underworld, make a lament for me on the ruin mounds. Beat the drum for me in the sanctuary. Make the rounds of the houses of the gods for me." — from the tale, Inana's descent to the underworld

Cherry Wine is a ficlet idea I was messing around with where reader develops a plan to drag Sylus away from a boring social function into a side room somewhere. Fun ensues!

Error: Dragon Override is a fun, lighthearted modern-dragon Sylus fic idea. Reader's moved in, notices certain quirks and habits about him that seem... less than human, and they begin observing him in earnest. You'll never guess what they find out.

Both of those are in the backburner for probably a while though - right now, what's capturing my imagination the most is fleshing out a continuation for The Red-Eyed Stranger; also started outlining a potential vampire snowcrow fic because I can't take it anymore. The ideas I'm having for it need to leave my imagination. It's become a blight on my mind during every idle moment. (usually a sign of a promising story, but also more than a bit intimidated by this one because I've never really written Zayne before.)

Hahaha, reader's been cooped up in the campus library for the better part of the day and he drops by with a tempting offer... inspired by the last line of the first college au post you made I think, where you mentioned dragging him back to the dorm.

"—not here, you horny idiot—someone's gonna see—" you hiss through your teeth, squirming uselessly in his grip.

"Now that's the first reasonable thing you've said to me so far." he hums against your skin, head buried in the crook of your neck. "I agree. I don't want anyone seeing you like this either.

"I promise," he says in between placing a kiss on that spot he knows you're sensitive to, "I'll be the perfect distraction for you."
