Remember…Kitty: She’s proof that I grew as a person during and after my teen years. It’s been years since Katja and I agreed on Kitty…And I happen to know that some of you are with me. So, obviously, I have to include her mood board and playlist (click!) in this trip down Peace Fire memory lane.
Frank Herbert’s Dune (wherein we find Katja’s ‘nym-spiration, however ill-considered the ‘nym) was published today in 1965. It’s my favourite way to refute those who claim that sci-fi isn’t smart, and one of those books I try to re-read regularly.
16 June, 1969, Apollo 11 launched, sending humans to the moon. It also did its part to launch David Bowie into more ears. See, Space Oddity had been released just days earlier on 11 July, but the BBC had banned playing it (unless and until the crew were safely home) just in case Apollo 11 met a grim end...But BBC TV ignored the ban and played Space Oddity during its Apollo 11 coverage. Good call, ground control. And, of course, readers of the Peaceforger books may also appreciate the date for launching Jonny's 'nym-spiration.
