using “i’m not a person of color but and if you knew me irl you’d know i’m not racist.” to defend a very valid criticism of people using a black woman as a plot device for their ship is very odd.

laila edwards is more than another character to add to your willmack universe. this isn’t saying thats she can’t be in fics, this is saying you shouldn’t have looked at her draft and immediately have gone “omg! now she can be friends with willmack and willmack will be her buddies and she can be in willmacks life. and she probably would wanna live with willmack” like, this isn’t about them. this is about her.

it is in fact ignorant to deteriorate her to that, and to take some valid points and go “i hope no one believe this terrible thing about me wanting to use a black woman as a piece in my shipverse!”

also, this doesn’t have to be rpf related. laila simply cannot just exist as she is? how odd. and the amount of likes i’ve seen on posts saying “it isn’t racist for me to use her like this! it isn’t ignorant to whittle her down to willmack’s friend! it isn’t strange to say she’d wanna be stuck to them like glue!” is very weird.

this is one of those moments where i remember how majority white nhlblr and nhl fandom is. you don’t even realize the error of your ways, and when someone brings it up to you you’re immediately defensive instead of accepting the information and working to be better

the issue here is the fact that people immediately saw laila’s draft and thought of how to apply that to their favorite white boys instead of highlighting her accomplishments and who she is as a person: first black woman in team usa, first black woman to win gold for team usa, highest drafted black woman in the pwhl. she has done so much, so pardon me for getting mad when someone wants characterize her as “willmacks friend who gets annoyed by their gay antics”

been thinking abt a/b/o and race and i imagine that there is a lot of intersectionality with that.

like, take for example: lewis hamilton and jude bellingham. i believe it’d be like a situation as there is being a black woman, it isn’t being black and being a woman, it is being both simultaneously.

that is how i think the topic of black omegas should be approached. there isn’t being black, or being an omega, it’s being a black omega. it is being both simultaneously. there isn’t taking one part of your identity and that being a factor in how the world perceives you, it is taking both parts. you cannot separate the experiences because they are unique to the person.

there would be experiences of being black and of being an omega, but combining them results in something distinctive and different. there would be discrimination and perceptions put on a person. i imagine that black omegas would be hypermasculinized on a higher level than their white counterparts, whether that person is masculine or not. and i imagine that there would be community, but white omegas wouldn’t be able to truly understand the oppression black omegas face.

i just overall think that the experience of a black omega, or thinking of a black person as an omega, cannot have one identity separate from the other. it is unified and harbors a certain environment a person will experience

one idea i will ALWAYS love is omega q and beta darcy bcs:

a.) i think betas deserve more love

and b.) i like different pairings. like, beta and omega??? darce would think that q’s so out of his league

team omega q just going around, making sure that everyone is doing good. he scents everyone a little bit, just to smooth out any unease. and darce can’t help but admire q, admire how mature he is at a young age, at how he makes it his job to keep the morale of the team up. he’s like a bright light in their lockerroom, something to give them hope. darce really appreciates it, really likes it.

i think that darce would find himself looking for q in the lockerroom, looking forward to the moment he walks over to his stall and presses his wrist to darce’s neck. i think that betas are able to scent like everyone else; i think that they are able to participate in that and have their own scents as well. i think that darce enjoys q’s scent, and finds himself seeking it out.

darce would feel a little pathetic: an older beta falling for a younger omega, like q would ever look his way (but he does)
