My Love
Vigilante x Black Fem!OC
Summary: Adrian finds solace in a woman who works/owns a flower shop. They go out to a club together and have fun :)
Part: 2/2 (Part 1 is here)
A/N: Here it is! The last part of this fic. I can't believe I wrote this during Black History Month, but it's FINE 💀 I'm so happy you guys have enjoyed it, and it makes me excited to get back into writing again (if I decide to 😗) Here is where My Love by Maye comes in, I highly recommend you listen to it to get the full reading experience.
Also, if anybody was wondering, the song that Adrian listens to on repeat and thinks about Delilah is definitely I Fell in Love Again by Kid Bloom. And Delilah listens to What It Is by Amber Mark and thinks about Adrian. But enough rambling from me!
Happy reading

Since then, Adrian hadn’t thought about the beautiful Delilah. Between Fennel Fields and the Task Force with Peacemaker, Adrian’s energy had been tapped out. However, today, he was driving around running his daily shopping errands. He saw a florist’s shop on his right side. He looked into it at happenstance and he immediately thought time stopped: Delilah was there. For just a second of a moment, he saw her in the window.
Adrian immediately stopped the car, a screeching sound emanating from the vehicle. The passersby looked around to see where that sound came from while Adrian found a place to park. He hurriedly went to the side of the shop so she couldn’t see his frenzied manner.
The glasses-clad man slowly looked to the double windowed structure and stared. His green eyes looking intently on the subject of his attention at the moment, and there she was: in a flower shop named “Roses & Roses.” Her hair wasn’t braided this time, it was out and extremely curly, accentuated with a bright red rose tucked behind her ear. She had a gentle smile on her face while she cut at some Baby’s Breath. Delilah moved around the shop like she was dancing, very light on her feet.
Before Adrian knew what he was doing, he stepped inside the shop. The bell above the door rang, letting Delilah know that someone entered. Her face lit up at the sight of a new customer. The brown-skinned woman held back a slight laugh at the sigh of Adrian, who looked a little lost and dumbstruck being there. The smell of various flowers and plants penetrated Adrian’s nostrils while he took in Delilah’s form for the first time in two months.
“Uh, hi! How can I help you today?” The girl said with a smile. Stepping to the counter, Adrian was at a loss for words.
“I-I-I’m here for some flowers.” His mind was completely blank. All he could think about was the smell wafting from Delilah. Is that coconut? He thought.
Her hand was stroking the Baby’s Breath that she had just been working on absentmindedly as she responded with, “Yeah, we’re a flower shop. What do you need?” Adrian needed to come up with a lie fast. He straightened himself and cleared his throat.
“I’m visiting my mom today and I wanted to buy her flowers!” He tried to turn his charm on, but his awkwardness shined through. Delilah relaxed her customer service smile into a genuine one at the mention of his mother.
“That’s so sweet. You’re a great son to her.” Adrian inwardly had a twinge of self-loathing for using his mother as a pick-up line, but he couldn’t think of anything else.
“What kind of flowers would you like? Take your pick.” Delilah turned around and began pointing at various greenery, but Adrian couldn’t focus. He was too busy staring at what her apron didn’t cover: the back of her t-shirt which showed her defined waist that tapered down to her jeans that showed off her ample backside. The man cocked his head to the side to get a better look before he went back to Delilah naming different flowers.”
“...we also have chrysanthemums, carnations…”
Adrian’s ears piqued up. “Carnations! My mom adores those. Give me a bouquet please.” He put his hands in his pockets. His hands brought out his wallet ready to pay. Delilah started cutting the flowers and soon started to make the arrangement. While doing so, she racked her mind about the nerdy white boy in front of her. She couldn’t help but admit he was kind of cute, in a dorky and handsome sort of way. She squinted her eyes at him while still putting his bouquet together.
“Have we met before?” She asked him. “I get a familiar vibe from you.” Adrian nervously chuckled.
“Oh no! Just have one of those familiar faces I guess.” There was an awkward pause.
“Besides, if we met before, I wouldn’t be able to forget a cute face like yours.”
Delilah blushed while she rang him up. She sheepishly laughed, “Thanks. That’ll be $11.95.” With a grin on his face, Adrian paid the girl and left.
-
Delilah loved seeing the excitement in his face, mouthing off about whatever he was happy about. But, she did realize she liked the little shit, however, she knew that he would never make a damn move. Even though he was a good-looking guy (whether he believed that or not), he couldn’t be forward. So Delilah decided to pose a question.
“Hey, Adrian…” She started, looking at the glasses-clad man. He straightened up a little. Delilah had a mischievous smile that he hardly saw on her, but when he did, he knew it was trouble. Well, at least trouble that he liked.
“Yeah, what is it?”
“You wanna go dancing?” Adrian stiffened, his face getting red hot.
“I don’t know how to dance, but sure?” Delilah’s laugh tinkled in Adrian’s ears. He could hear it all day long. She walked around to get a certain flower for an order that was called in a while ago as she continued her thought.
“So? Don’t you feel good when you just simply move to music? Go wherever your body takes you?”
Adrian nodded, knowing that she had a point. “Yeah.”
Delilah moved her hand on top of his, and Adrian could feel his whole body get warm. “Then, come dance with me, Chase. You might just surprise yourself.”
The brunette laughed and scoffed. “Yeah, you wish! You’ll see how much of a horrible dancer I am.” The curly-haired girl laughed at him.
“Dude, just focus on having fun. I promise I’ll show you a good time.”
Adrian sighed looking at Delilah, “Where is this place?”
She smirked. “In the city. It’s a club called The Striped Tiger.” Delilah sized Adrian up. “And wear something nice. The club is kind of snazzy.”
Adrian furrowed his brow. “What’s wrong with what I wear?”
“Adrian, sweetheart, I don’t mean to talk about your style, but you dress like a dad going on his morning walk.” Delilah giggled.
The man crossed his arms. “I don’t dress like an old man.” Delilah’s only response was her cackling.
“What time are we heading out?” Adrian asked.
“Mm, pick me up around 10!” Delilah chirped. Adrian paused for a moment, slight tension in the air. His next response was on the tip of his tongue, but he was so nervous to say it.
“Okay, it’s a date.” He remarked. Adrian looked up as he waited for Delilah’s response. He could feel himself sweat.
Delilah cocked her head a tad and smirked. “Yeah. It is.”
-
On the way to Delilah’s place, Adrian couldn’t stop staring at himself in the rear view mirror. Not because he looked good, but because he thought he looked dumb. His brunette hair was slicked back, he had a dress shirt with eccentric patterns, and dress pants on. Even though he knew Delilah said to dress nice, he felt out of his element.
Adrian finally pulled up to Delilah’s house. It was a modest one-story home in the nicer neighborhoods of Evergreen. He recalled her telling him how she took over the shop after her grandmother grew ill. The brunette sighed and took out his phone to text Delilah.
“I’m here 🧜♂” He put his famous merman emoji.
“Haha, I’ll be right out.” Adrian’s heart started pounding as he got out of the car. He got to Delilah’s door to her to come out and when she did, his breathing stopped for a second. She came out in a red dress that hugged her curvy body ever so nicely, making Adrian wish he were hugging her himself. The lace trim on the bodice of her dress accentuated her breasts while not revealing too much for her taste.
She wore black heels, silver rings adorned her fingers, silver drop earrings, and her slinky black clutch to top it off. Delilah looked at Adrian, her green eyeshadow shimmering in the light of her porch, and her tawny brown eyes lit up when she saw him with a wide smile to match.
“Well, would you look at that, Adrian Chase, you really do know how to clean up.” She went in for a hug. Adrian closed his eyes to take in the smell of coconut from her hair and the sultry vanilla scent of her perfume. It took everything in Adrian to not try and kiss her neck.
Delilah sized him up after the hug. She really hadn’t realized how built he was under his normal clothes. His arms flexed as he fidgeted around in the shirt he wore. His slicked-back hair added some drama to his otherwise soft face. But, she knew it was still Adrian underneath because of his simple wire glasses.
Adrian nervously smiled at the woman, “You really think I look good?” He asked. They started walking down the driveway to his car as she hummed in agreement.
“Yes, dude!” Delilah paused, looking at him. “You look very handsome, I can surely tell you that.” She resumed walking to the car, while the compliment stopped Adrian in his tracks. He quickly resumed his steps once he saw Delilah about to open the car.
He blushed as they both got in the car, and he looked at the dark-skinned girl. “Thanks, Del. I really appreciate it. I feel kinda dumb in this get-up.”
“You really shouldn’t.” She replied.
“No! Let me do it.”
The brunette turned to her. “You look really beautiful though.” He held her stare for a moment before he could see her reach for his phone on the dashboard. His eyes widened.
Delilah smirked, “What do you have to hide, Chase?”
He handed her his phone. “Mm, Fennel Fields’ top secrets.”
“Riiight…” She responded. Delilah side-eyed him while she put in the address for the club.
“Thanks for the compliment, by the way. I haven’t gone out in ages, so I need this tonight.”
Adrian chuckled. “I promise to try and not make a fool of myself so you can have a good time.” There was a moment of comfortable silence between the two adults before anyone said anything.
“Why do you use that mermaid emoji so much?”
“Excuse me? He is a merman!”
Delilah laughed. “A merman. I’m sorry.”
“Like I tell you and my best friend, Chris, that merman emoji is holistic.” Delilah let out a huge laugh.
“Holistic?”
“Yes, it’s good for any mood.”
“Okay, if you say so.” Delilah tried to stop laughing. “Also, when are you going to introduce me to your friend, Chris? You never shut up about him.”
Adrian’s smile faltered a bit. “I’m not sure. He kind of says the wrong thing to people.”
“Oh, like you?”
“I say the wrong things to people?” He questioned her.
Delilah scoffed. “Yes. Yes, you do. You don’t get social cues, man.”
Adrian slowly nodded. “I suppose you have a point.” Delilah just looked at him.
“Chris will just embarrass me…and I care about you too much to subject you to him.” That was about half a lie. Yes, Adrian did care about Delilah, but also he couldn’t let Chris say the wrong thing to reveal what they do.
Delilah shifted in her seat, flustered, but also intrigued. “Alright, fine. Don’t show me the guy you have a crush on.”
-
At the club, Adrian felt uncomfortable with the people there. It reminded him of the high school dances he begrudgingly went to because his mother told his brother to take him. Delilah saw the furrowed look on his face, and she gingerly grabbed his hand to make sure he looked at her.
“Hey,” she closed in on him, making sure he could hear her over the noise. “Just focus on me. Let’s get a drink and we can find a spot on the floor, okay?” Adrian gave her a soft smile back and squeezed her hand as a response to her question. She turned around and let them to the bar.
The two of them ordered their drinks. Adrian ordered a simple beer, and Delilah ordered some extravagant cocktail. She was going to take advantage of Adrian being the DD tonight.
Once they got their drinks, they moved to the floor. Adrian loved seeing Delilah be carefree. They had only been friends for a small amount of time. The way the brown-skinned girl’s hips shook to the hip-hop song that was playing above them made him smile into his beer while he took a sip.
Adrian figured he needed to start dancing so Delilah (and anybody else around) would think he’s a creep. He decided to put his best foot forward and busted a move, or at least, he tried to. He downed his beer, left it somewhere, and went to dance. He did a pumping fist motion to the wrong beat of the song continuously, and he felt…good.
Delilah was smiling and laughing at him, but he knew it wasn’t malicious, thinking he looked dumb. Adrian knew she liked seeing him finally having fun.
Delilah finished her drink and went dancing alongside her friend. She took his hands into hers and guided him. “Just follow me, dude.” She said, drunkenly laughing. Adrian could see the mischievous twinkle in her eye more now that she had alcohol in her. The brunette watched as Delilah was mouthing to herself, “1, 2, 3” while looking down at their feet.
Soon, the song transitioned making Delilah’s hands move away. Adrian kept dancing, going back to his usual move of moving his hands in zany motions. Once the lyrics for the current song came on, Delilah looked at him wide-eyed.
“Oh my god! I love this song!” She exclaimed. She looked over at Adrian doing his moves again, smiling at her and she laughed.
“Nononono. You gotta dance like this to a song like this. C’mere.” She whispered in his ear. Her hot breath on the side of his face gave him chills.
“Okay, show me,” He breathed.
He could see why Delilah liked this song. It had a nice groove and vibe. It was definitely something he wasn’t used to. The lyrics made him blush, however, because of his feelings for the woman in front of him.
And you paint a picture in my head
But I can only make out silhouettes.
Delilah dropped his hands, but her body language made him realize she wanted him to go with her pacing.
Like the poems I never read
But you write your own in my bed
And it’s how I like my love.
As the song slowed down, Delilah took Adrian’s hand and spun herself around into him. She wrapped her arm around her waist. Their bodies were up against each other with her heels making them the same height. Her big hair engulfed him, the scent of her leave-in conditioner made him want to bathe in it. Just so he could have his scent on her all day long.
Soon, the song starts to speed up, and the short time they were pressed together ended, but Delilah still stayed close to him. His arm was still wrapped around her waist.
You say you’ll love me forever
But I think forever doesn’t seem like it’s enough
Yo quiero ser parte de tu
Presente, de tu principio y de final
This song turned Adrian’s stomach into knots. How did the DJ know to put this song on to perfectly describe his feelings for Delilah? Fuck. It was so embarrassing. For the duration of the song, Delilah and Adrian went back and forth with each other. Embracing and stepping back from each other.
“Your moves got better, Adrian. I’m impressed.” Delilah breathed, her arms draped around Adrian’s shoulders.
He smiled, his smirk making her blush. Suddenly, she was conscious of his strong hands on her hips.
“I have a great teacher to thank for the improvement, Del.”
-
Delilah and Adrian had been dancing for two hours, both of them laughing at the song choices the DJ had been making as the night drew on. Not because they were funny songs, but Delilah decided to join in with Adrian and dance goofily on her own. At one point, the song Love Like This by Faith Evans came on, and the brown-skinned beauty went into overdrive. Adrian didn't think he had ever seen her like that since he had known her.
Delilah's arms were moving in quirky precise motions, yet she still stayed on beat with her hips and kept laughing at herself. "They keep playing good shit tonight! Damn!" Adrian looked at her with endearing eyes. He loved seeing her enjoy herself.
He laughed at Delilah's gestures and enjoyed this moment. It had been a while since he actually had fun with someone like this. Sure, he killed criminals with Peacemaker, but this felt like the exhilaration he had from his DND campaigns and his friends back then. Obviously, neither he nor Delilah expected to be in each other's lives, but Adrian, himself, could say that he was grateful for the woman dancing crazily next time him.
Delilah's eyes were aimlessly scanning the room, seeing how everybody else danced and enjoyed themselves. That's when she saw it. A photo booth.
She tapped Adrian's arm. "Oh my god, Adrian! Look! Look! They have a photo booth! Can we go take pictures please?"
"Um? Fuck yes? Let's go!" Both adults practically ran to the empty photo booth. The fluorescent lights emanating from the screen made their face just a tad bit off, but neither cared. They were too busy discussing what poses they were going to do.
"Okay, I'll do finger guns, and then I'll flex like a strong man," Adrian said.
"I don't know what the fuck I'll do just put the money in man, I'm ready!" They both laughed as Adrian put a credit card in, and the countdown suddenly began.
1: Adrian imitated a gun and shot the camera, and Delilah followed suit.
2: Delilah threw up a peace sign while Adrian flexed.
3: Delilah took Adrian's glasses as props.
"Hey!" The brunette whined. "I need those to actually see."
"Yeah, you're right, Adrian. Your vision sucks. Your glasses are giving me a headache already." The camera flashed.
"Okay, Del, this is the last photo. What are we gonna do next?"
Without a second thought, Delilah jumped into Adrian's lap, wrapped her arms around his neck, looked at him, and said, "We'll just smile for the camera, kay?"
4: Both of them shot the camera a megawatt smile. Adrian's face had some flush on it on account of the fact that the pretty girl he pined for was sitting in his lap.
Delilah stayed in his lap as she went to reach for the photo strip on the outside of the curtain. She quickly snatched it, and looked down at it with Adrian. Well, he would have been looking down if he wasn't looking at Delilah. Through dark eyelashes, he couldn't help but admire her facial features. Her full, plush lips, her round, button nose, along with the soft smile she sported as she looked at the photo.
She turned to him. "What do you think, Adrian? Look." Delilah said softly. For a moment, he looked down at the strip, nostalgia already washing over him from a moment that happened five minutes ago. He could see how happy he was with her. Adrian couldn't lose that. Then, he looked back at her, again, him keeping her gaze, and before they knew it their lips touched, Adrian tasting the sweet alcohol that Delilah drunk earlier.
Her arms slinked around his shoulders and neck tighter, trying to close the gap between their bodies. Her lips engulfed his, her tongue slipping into his mouth, making them twirl together, the action making the man groan into the kiss. One arm stayed wrapped around Delilah's waist, while one stroked her arm, memorizing her soft and supple skin. Delilah's hands went into Adrian's hair, messing with the slicked-back curls he had meticulously gelled back for tonight. The kiss was full of passion and want. Both of them wanted each other but never knew when to say it.
Delilah was the first one to pull away, Adrian's eyes still closed, his lips still puckered.
"W-what happened?"
Delilah bit her lip and sighed, "I think it's time to go home, Chase."
"Y-you sure?" He asked. Adrian really hoped he didn't do anything wrong.
"Yeah, let's go."
-
On the car ride to Delilah's place, she was looking out the window, the alcohol still in her system. The landscape of the city reverting back to residential housing made Delilah groan.
Adrian furrowed his brow as he put a hand on her thigh, worried that she had drunk too much.
"Everything okay, Del?" He rubbed her thigh reassuringly.
She touched his hand atop her thigh, squeezed it, and turned to him. Her eyes closed a little from her drowsiness. "Yeah I'm fine, don't worry about me."
-
They reach Delilah's house. Both adults walked up to the door and turned toward each other. Delilah bent down and took her shoes off, letting out a soft groan.
"Ah, fuck that feels better." She held her shoes from the straps and smiled up at Adrian. The height difference is strikingly apparent without her heels.
"Thank you for tonight, Adrian. I had a really wonderful time."
"So did I," He said, love in his eyes for the woman standing in front of him. "I think I needed tonight as much as you did."
"I'm glad." Delilah and Adrian stood there for a moment, looking at each other, blushing. It only took a second of Delilah looking at Adrian's lips for him to get the message. She dropped her shoes on the doorstep and quickly stood on her toes to give Adrian one last kiss. He tightly wrapped his arms around her small waist, both moaning in each other's mouths. Adrian hummed in the kiss as Delilah played with his hair. Her full lips kept engulfing his in their shared kiss, he adored the feeling of her lips drowning him in it. He never wanted it to end.
"I have been waiting to do that for so, so long Delilah," He said as he peppered kisses down her neck. He softly groaned at the way her skin felt against his lips. Soft, sweet-smelling mixed with the sweat from all of the dancing, and so tender.
"Y-you have?" She softly said, a moan escaping her mouth as Adrian slowed down his pacing to give her passionate kisses on her neck.
"Yes. Ever since the first time I saw you in the window of the store. You're gorgeous, Del, and you make me so happy." There goes that warm feeling between her legs again. She needed a clear head to really enjoy this. It took everything in her to pull away.
"Okay, Adrian," She started to say, mid-moan in her mouth. "I think the alcohol is getting to me. I need to go inside and sleep right now." Delilah laughed as she saw Adrian pout slightly with his arms still wrapped around her.
She paused, looking at his muscles, caged within his shirt. "We can talk about all of this tomorrow, okay?" The brunette straightened up and cleared his throat.
"Y-yeah. Yes, we definitely can." His blush was still on his face.
"And look! We still need to decide who gets what photos from the strip." She turned to scramble in her purse for the memento that was taken an hour ago. She looked at it lovingly.
"Here, I'll rip it so you can have the second half, and I'll have the first. How's that sound?"
Adrian said nothing but nodded while Delilah folded it gingerly back and forth as she ripped it. She turned to him and gave him the second half, her deep brown eyes looked big and brightly at him.
"I love it. Thank you," Adrian almost whispered to her with a smile. His sharp canines mixed with his smile lines sent shivers to all parts of Delilah's body.
"Okay, I'm gonna go now. I'll let you get some sleep, Del. I'll see you soon. I don't know maybe tomorrow if my shift isn't too crazy, I'll stop by and we can talk and-" He didn't know why he was rambling, but he couldn't stop.
"Adrian, it's cool. Don't worry about it. I know you'll make time for me." Delilah winked at him while stepping on the threshold of her house.
"Okay. Okay cool, yeah. Definitely." His green eyes couldn't stray away from Delilah's form if he wanted to, but he needed to go home and rest too. He needed to sleep off tonight and process what had happened.
Adrian turned away as Delilah's front door shut, a smile on his face and a fist pump in the air. He floated to the car on Cloud 9.
He wondered if it was too soon to ask her to be his girlfriend already.
