Peace Within Promotes Peace Without
I've been thinking a lot about what makes someone happy. About facing the struggles that sometimes make you feel like you're heading in the opposite direction towards finding your happiness. Now I know that happiness isn't a constant. Of course there are going to be times when difficult situations arise and you're going to have to let yourself feel other emotions.
Still, we all know that there is a positive way to look at every situation and I'm a firm believer in doing so. For me, it helps to stay hopeful. I feel less stressed or anxious when I focus on the positive light that can come from difficulties rather than remaining in a grumpy state or letting myself have an agitated reaction. Being angry or annoyed doesn't help me, it hinders me so I do my best to not let myself go there OR to not let myself remain there.
I don't want to let myself linger in those places that make me feel insecure or sad because I know these are not my true feelings towards myself or the situation. It's like that story about those two beasts inside of you, which one stays alive? Well, the one you feed! Feed your happy! Don't feed your negative.
Breathe in love and let out negativity.
I read something today that said, "in many ways happiness means swimming upstream against some pretty ingrained biological and cultural patterns that take us in the opposite direction," and I think this is absolutely true.
That's what it's important to remember that peace within promotes peace without. We do ourselves, our families, our workplaces and our communities a disservice when we don’t bring our best (and I mean our very best).
Happy people breed happy people! "So … if you feel an inner fire burning, if you’re aware that you’ve got more to give, and if you’re ready for positive change, then I encourage you not to hold back any longer. Bring your light, know yourself and be the change you wish to see."
