Brand New Day ||: Peacock :||
Today was going to be a good day.
Noisemaster stood on top of a bus stop shelter, carefully watching the street. While he'd figured out the changes he scientists had forced on the Noise Blaster--how many shots it could fire, how fast it charged, how much damage it could do--he had yet to do a real live test run with it. He'd had time, though, to think of ways he could still cause a little mayhem with it, despite its inability to level the city.
The street wasn't terribly busy at that time in the day, which was a shame, but Noisemaster was too impatient to wait until rush hour. Looking up the road, he saw that there was a buss headed towards the intersection--as good a target as any. He jumped from the bus stop up to a streetlight and then over to the stoplight pole stretching out over the street, positioning himself so that he was in front of the bus's path. Withdrawing his makeshift remote, he waited, adjusting for both the speed of the bus and the delay on the Noise Blaster, then pressed the button to fire.
A few moments later, a blast of sound and energy shot down from the sky, but rather than simply hit the bus, the beam crashed through the windshield and found its intended target--the driver. A direct hit! Noisemaster's satisfaction, however, was cut short when all that really did was cause the bus to drift into the oncoming traffic lane, which didn't do much considering there wasn't any oncoming traffic. Frustrated, Noisemaster looked around for something else he could do. He looked down at the remote--and the pole he was standing on. Of course! He hadn't really tested the Noise Blaster's effectiveness on buildings and terrain, but the pole was thin enough that maybe, just maybe...
Aiming near the base of the pole, Noisemaster fired again, and the shot connected with the metal with a peculiar synthetic clanging sound. The metal dented, and although it looked like the Noise Blaster hadn't really done anything at first, the pole began to lean, then fall over in earnest. Noisemaster rode it down, jumping off at the last moment as it crashed on top of the bus which buckled beneath its weight. Part of it was crushed, but unfortunately the other part remained undamaged enough for a few of the civilians inside to escape.
What a shame, Noisemaster thought as he hovered above the scene. He'd already wasted two shots only to kill a handful of people. He'd have to figure out something else to do.
