OMG THEY SAID THE TITLE!!!!
special shoutout to His Empire Of Dirt for getting me through 12 hours of driving and an overnight ferry ride
hey so if i theoretically drew fanart 4 one of your fics, would you want me to tag you?
absolutely, please do tag me! I love seeing fanart :)
Random question, is it pearl-and-pine or pear-land-pine? It's been bugging me for days now
it's pearl-and-pine! my username is from a line I've written where someone is describing a dragon's white and green eyes as "pearl and pine", and I thought it sounded like a good username :)
Question about HEoD. Hello, I love your works very much and I think you’re a brilliant writer. Just a thought about something.
What made you decide to change Bella’s race to black near the end of the story? I know that you mentioned racism in chapters after the change, but do you think you’d ever go back and change other things in the past to reflect on the 1950s time period?
This is all very much light-hearted, and I know that it’s just a fan fiction and I’m putting too much thought and historical context into it, but i’m just curious :)
Thank you so much! It was a change I was debating for several chapters before I committed to it, my only trepidation being the fic was coming to a close soon, but as I said in the notes, my fic my rules, so I went ahead with it!
One thing that made me want to change this is that I typically write with diverse casts, and that was something I thought was severely lacking in heod. Additionally, I ended up envisioning Charlie as being BIPOC, and wanted to reflect that through her mother.
I don't think I would change too much, tbh! I think though it does make sense to touch on things that I do on the fic, such as mental health stigma and 50s views of queer people, at the end of the day, I do want an escapism aspect of it. I don't think it would be fun nor fair to my LGBT and BIPOC readers to have characters that they see themselves reflected in go through more conflict just because it would be more realistic. So, though it would be more realistic to have more trials and tribulations for these characters to go through, I already put them through *a lot*, and I think that adding more racial tensions wouldn't add anything to the plot or themes. Ty for the question!
Dhdjejdks currently holding myself back like a beast who has escaped their confines as I come up with a lil’ fanart idea 😭 Just a question (sorry if you’ve already posted this somewhere, I haven’t been able to find it): but do you have faceclaims for the characters of HEOD?
Omg very excited to see the fanart! I don't have FC for anyone except for Bella! Her faceclaim is Bette McLaurin! It's been difficult coming up with fcs for everyone tbh, most people don't fit the vibes I'm going for them, especially when I try to find references from the 50s...I'm always down for suggestions though!
hello!! It's the same anon who is doing the binding. I was doing a few re-reads of it and only noticed one typo in the whole thing. Wow. I took a week to re-read this, yet during my first read, I finished the whole fic in 6 hours. Wow. Anyways, I read the author's note nad realised that you were going to do a cover and a printable file for us. Wanted to ask if that is still going to happen.
Hello! Omg wow your bookbinding is going so quickly! I do intend on making a printable file for HEoD. Unfortunately, editing is a long process, and with work, writing other fics, and just life in general, I haven't had time to get to the HEoD print edition. It has been at the back of my mind though, as I do want to make a physical copy of HEoD for myself, so it will happen one day, though I can't promise anything in the immediate future.
was there any chapters in any of your works that you felt came out unsatisfactory? asking for a friend (me)
In regard to HEoD, I'm very happy with how everything came out! I was very glad I ended up extending how long it was, otherwise I would say that I was unsatisfied with the ending. Since I wrote more chapters, though, I'm really happy with the final product. Of course, nothing is perfect, but I am glad with how I ended thing.
In terms of Deprav, I am very happy with it, but if I were to rewrite it, I would definitely make it longer. Funny enough, the plot was originally going to be pretty different, following some Sister Location things especially and taking course over years instead of several weeks. I'm much happier with the final product than that idea, though!
