Rewatching Sinners and I have held onto this thought for awhile but I think this is Cornbread's grandson.
Therise gave birth to their child. Now the entire town knows something horrific happened that night but it's only whispers. Sammie is the only one to survive but he kept in contact with his family and the community back home.
It was definitely tough at first and his dad still wasn't accepting of Sammie's decision but once he saw Sammie establish himself and help support his family, he eventually came around. His dad now brags on Sammie's accomplishments and tells members of the community he will help set them up if they make it to Chicago.
After growing up in the Delta, Cornbread and Therise's baby moves outta the Delta and to Chicago. As many before them, Sammie helps by setting them up with a job at Pearline's and setting roots in Chicago. Sammie has always promised any of Cornbread's kids would always have a friend in him.
Cornbread's child builds a life for themselves and starts a family in Chicago. All of their children have worked at Pearline's at some point in their life. The youngest has worked as a bodyguard there since 17. Although he was young, he was countryfed and built like his no nonsense granddaddy. He loves Pearline's almost as much as he loves the blues.
