Paul: I’d prefer to forget this incident right now!
Reporter: For the next few days, presumably, they’ll be a chance for you to get back to the English way of life and particularly to have a break with your family?
Paul: Yeah! If you fellows would leave me alone, that would be possible.
Paul facing the press on 27th January 1980 at Waterfall Estate, Woodlands Farm in Peasmarsh, East Sussex, after being released from prison in Tokyo and deported back to England a couple of days previously. Paul had served 10 days in prison after customs officials at Narita International Airport, Japan, discovered approx 8oz of marijuana hidden in Paul’s baggage.
