We got a UTI baby - THANK YOU!!! GOAL HAS BEEN MET

Hi! Croutons has a UTI + they found more crystals in his bladder. His diet was less than 5% anything but his urinary food but hes special (sarcasm) and can no longer have anything but lest he have more complications.

Im also very broke! I have bills to pay tomorrow and my CC info recently got stolen and im still waiting for a new one with no luck. Any help at all would be appreciated, and if youre unable to donate sharing is equally helpful and appreciated! Sketch commissions will also be available shortly to help compensate as well.

Croutons has had 2 accidents outside of his litter box and hes grooming excessively while growling and clearly yelling at us afterwards. There's no blood in his urine, hes not straining to pee but hes obviously uncomfortable. I have no idea how he continues to have the worst timing humanly possibly but alas.

Going to email the vet in the morning and hopefully get him in after the holidays?

For now Gabapentin and a cone 😔

wait why does croutons have nothing? is that normal male cat neutering procedure?

HDKDJ no! the neutering was very normal but he later got back to back urinary blockages (urinary crystals stuck in the urethra) which is extremely dangerous and can kill a cat, so he got a PU (Perineal Urethrostomy) which essentially removes the penis to make the urethra wide enough to pass the crystals - Male cat's urethras are pretty narrow + the bone in there doesnt help and crystals get stuck.

Good news!!! He has a normal UTI!!! he's getting the usual round of meds and more gabapentin to gabagoo him.

he does have crystals, which is normal with UTIs, but they want to double check if the crystals are from that, or if his food isn't working and we need to change brands. So second urine sample in a months time <3 thankfully we can cover it all thanks for grandmaman crout !!!!!!!!!

OKAY vet has been called appointment has been made !!! for now he will remain a donut and gaba baby !!!

It feels like every month Croutons gets a new UTI... Is he collecting them or something... (I hope he's doing better)

We did have a back to back Dec/Jan UTI and he gave us a little break for a bit there!!! Maybe he likes going to the vet.... jokes aside he's okay! they have a urine sample and we thankfully do NOT have to take him back in for an exam since i dont feel anything is abnormal (standard UTI symptoms from him) so they'll give us a call back with the results soon and i can just go pick up the medication.

he's happy to be home and still drugged up and sleepy. i really love seeing him immediately he relaxes when he's home and gets to snuggle or lay in his favourite spots

Baby update on his health I'll add to the gfm when I get home

Just picked up a 2 month supply of Gabapentin for him and he'll remain on it until he's 100% again.

Got to meet the tech who dis his catheters and she was so excited to hear how he was doing and told me she was using him as a case study for her course work which is really cool!

the amount left needed on his gfm is actually around the cost of his meds, I'll post the bill on gfm
