In 2012, APIASF partnered with the National Commission on Asian American and Pacific Islander Research in Education (CARE) to launch the PEER project. PEER aims to reduce access and success challenges that AAPI students have encountered in the past. By strategically working with partner colleges and universities, particularly Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institutions (AANAPISIs), the PEER project strives to advance America’s national college completion goals and the democratic mission of higher education.

#repEdEquity Spotlight: Partnership for Equity in Education Through Research (PEER) Project

Did you know that AAPIs make up the fastest-growing student population at U.S. colleges and universities, yet as many as 65% of adults 25 or older in some AAPI subgroups never attend college?

In an attempt to expand the knowledge base regarding the AAPI population, APIASF has partnered with the National Commission on Asian American and Pacific Islander Research in Education (CARE) to launch the Partnership for Equity in Education Through Research (PEER) project. This project aims to reduce access and success challenges that AAPI students have encountered in the past. By strategically working with partner colleges and universities, particularly Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institutions (AANAPISIs), the PEER project strives to advance America’s national college completion goals and the democratic mission of higher education.

The inclusion of AAPI students in the national college completion agenda will fundamentally increase diversity in our colleges and universities. Furthermore, focusing on AAPI populations when they previously have been overlooked will help us make access to higher education more equitable for all underrepresented students.

What are ways that institutions can better serve the needs of AAPI students?
