Hi! I found out recently that my one of my favourite musicians uses a lot of Bulgarian vocals/traditional Bulgarian songs in their pieces, and it prompted me to ask - what are your favourite songs in your native language? And secondly, how difficult would you say Bulgarian is for an English speaker to pick up? It seems like an interesting language to learn! c:
Oh my favourite songs in bulgarian....thats a thinker...i really like Na Inat by Poli Genova , something similair yet faar different by Obraten Efekt - I Belite Mogat da skachat ; another one i really like and it has a folklore origins and sound, it can be heard in The Witcher 3 and its called Lazare;
Other two great examples i can give are Alone in the Dark called Who am I and the other one is from the movie Brother Bear where they use our popular women choir and im super proud we get such a cool representation of our culture and heritage! Our music is beautiful and im extremely happy we are getting recognition for it X) There are also lots of other examples im missing because i noticed bulgarian choir appearing more and more in western media, wether games or movies. The hottest thing on the subject i heard was that Lady Gaga made some sort of reveal on IG using bulgarian music!
As for the language, statistically according to google, it takes about 44 weeks (1100 hours) to learn the language; Its a slavic language and we use the Cyrillic alphabet - а,б,в so on and for an english speaking person it can be tricky to get. But of course if one is willing to learn theres always a way! ^^ And honestly, you pick up one slavic language and you’ll be ROUGHLY able to understand other slavic languages which is pretty cool! :D
Thanks for the cool ask!
