🌊Just a few days ago our village was covered in water ironically during the "dry season" here in PNG. It lasted a few days and just overnight it subsided. 📙With three post-literacy graduates through our program already, we need books in Pefiyahe to encourage their skills! In the process, this gives them access to a ton of exciting new information. Our team developed 25 new books, checked them for clarity, and are finishing the editing on the last of them. Try to explain to someone things like 'germs' or a 'camel' for the first time ever... These are things with no previous contextual anchors in their culture. Yikes. #peitribe
✏️To date we have three graduated classes here in Pei Village. Great? Absolutely. And yet we hope for more. We hope the graduated would increase their skills in post literacy class offered Monday through Friday's. Pray with us for direction on our parts, motivation on the Pei's part, and for the day we share (SOON!) the 'big talk'. #peitribe

All to improve our speech pattens so when we share 'the talk' we have worked for all these years we will not bore our audience. A not so Insta-gram here. The last few months involved some deaths of one of our eldest Pei men and some children. To the Pei people death is not natural. Somebody or thing caused it. So, the speculations and questions have been flying. These people are not happy in their own as many may think. They are scared, confused, angry, and searching. Lately you see them huddled over a fire or a public meeting area throwing out ideas. Our team is in the midst of bible translation and lesson writing so we can share HOPE soon! #peitribe #onedayatatime

Buried a 6 year old today in the #PeiTribe . Sad day for everybody. Death is the ultimate shame. The untimely death of a child... even moreso. Admitting that we can't control even the very breath that we draw is a fatal blow to our pride. This mother is in the throes of that very shame, as she plants her shild in the ground. Tonight she'll probably lay in her house trying to sleep, as her mind wanders toward her son, lying now in darkness under the earth. She labored to carry that son into this world, she sweat and bled to feed that boy and provide for him, and now she'll feel like it was a waste -- some cosmic joke of which she is the sad punch line. Sorry i'm a downer today... I'm bummed.
