The excess of ethnography

Having concluded that an ethnographic approach to my project is too problematic and time-consuming for my limited resources to handle, I have decided to change my focus and chronicle my experiences of being an amateur researcher. First line and the message already ends. Guess the speaker is begging, as if it starts with IF EVER. The speaker and the recipient are always spending time together and are not used of being apart. 

but, if you should, I'll be back very soon.

The first word is an insurance of the whole statement. In this line, the recipient is ordered to long the speaker’s presence. The promise to be back is described soon that indicates how the speaker will also miss the recipient.

I've just gone to the mainland to hunt.

Hunting is a piece of cake for the speaker. That the mainland here symbolizes about the number of people in a city or in a bario. Means, the speaker and the recipient is living in rural area. Searching for something like a wild boar, lost not in the forest but in the castle. And for the speaker, this wild boar is nothing serious.

Go back to sleep

This line implies that the recipient is trying to stay up late but the speaker is stating that it is better to keep calm and enjoy dreaming. A rest.

and I'll be here when you wake again.

Hunting is never been fast, but in this line the speaker assures that to worry is not good. That being with the recipient in a morning, is a good reward after hunting. Again is very fruitful, as they say..tomorrow never dies.

I love you.

Time will somehow hinder love, but as said... love does not come easy. It takes life, it takes death and it takes one or two.

It’s about leaving and coming back.

DISCOURSE ANAYLYSIS

Discourse analysis is the study of extended verbal expression in spoken and written language.

Nowadays everything that is sent electronically is often abbreviated.

Example: “Bro, where u @?” or “Gtg, cu l8r?”

Translation: ‘Where are you?’ or ‘I have to go now, I will see you later’

This shows that over time the English Language has evolved from very formal English to slang.
