King Pelasgus refuses to give the Danaids to the herald of Egypt.
“Everywhere I turn, there thou shall be... and I am alive. This is so strange…once I was right there, in this hole in the earth and now I am here, standing on it. See, Mother, how I can feel my own heartbeat…How I can hear my own voice, and my own breath…your trees seem alive too, Mother. I can hear their heartbeat. But they do not look like me…is there anything created that looks like me? My mother is the Mother of All, but I do not see anyone else. There must be other creations that are alive around here somewhere, creations that look like me. Will they be born all alone too? Is this how we are meant to come into the world?”
I gotta say, it’s so much fun writing for Pelasgus in this fic. I’m trying to work a bit more on the Euripides style here by including big emotional monologues and I’m loving how this one is coming along.
This definitely isn’t relevant to current events

Some dialogue that may or may not make it into a fic someday.
Lycurgus: I assume Hermes told you of our history?
Atalanta: Sure he did. First Khaos sprung from the void, and then came Gaia and Eros and-
Lycurgus: No…heh, I mean our history. The story of how hour family began.
Atalanta: Oh…no, I can’t say that he did.
Lycurgus: Well, it all began right here. In this very cave. It began with him….
*there’s a really old looking painting of a man on the walls of the cave. In fact the whole cave looks like it could’ve been a palace at some point, thousands of years ago*
Lycurgus: Pelasgus.
Atalanta: *staring at the painting curiously* Who were his parents?
Lycurgus: No one. He was born from the earth, you see. Long, long ago, before any city. He sprouted from the soil in this very cave. It was dark and quiet, but he liked it that way. But then one say he decided to see what lie beyond his cave, and there he saw it.
Atalanta: …What, Papou…? What did he see…?
Lycurgus: He saw the sun.
I know Pelasgus and Atalanta are like a million generations apart but writing this little parallel between them makes me so happy 😂
