Pelecyphora strobiliformis

This wonderful little cactus comes from the states of Nuevo Leon and Tamaulipas in northeastern Mexico. The name "strobiliformis" refers to the pinecone-like appearance of the plant. The species can be quite cryptic in habitat, but this is not true when its bright magenta flowers emerge to give it away!

Pelecyphora strobiliformis

This small cactus comes from the states of Nuevo Leon and Tamaulipas in northeastern Mexico. It was named as Encephalocarpus strobiliformis by the German taxonomist Curt Backeberg, but it has been moved into Pelecyphora along with Pelecyphora aselliformis. Its name refers to the pinecone-like appearance of the plant. It can be hard to spot in its habitat unless the vivid magenta flowers are present.

成長点を潰して、群生化させたものと思われる。 冬のこの時期は、屋内で管理している。 根腐れしやすいので、水やりは他のサボテンよりも辛め、今はほぼ断水状態にしている。 ワラジ虫みたいな刺座が最高！
