LOOK AT MY MURDER BEAN 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Thank you @pellelavellan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@pellelavellan ❤️ for a starter
There was, perhaps, an easier way to go about this. He supposed he could simply pick him up, he was hardly going to weigh much, but then that may be considered undignified for one in the Inquisitors position, and at this point in the evening Cullen thought it best they keep as much of that intact as possible. He settled on a firm grip on the back of Pelle’s tunic instead, the fistful of fabric helping him both keep the elf up and direct him accordingly as he privately cursed the amount of steps in the hold. He’d had enough to drink that they required a little more concentration than the norm, but judging from Pelle’s gait they were swaying- or he’d found something more interesting than their quest for his rooms.
“Is the table dancing something from your clan, or did you make that up specially for tonight?” he enquired, trying to pull Pelle’s focus back. “It was certainly a sight.”
@pellelavellan Over the shoulder (for Mahanon)
mahanon couldn’t help but sigh. pelle had tried to pick him up, and while he was being held above the ground it wasn’t by much. simply because he had 8 inches of extra height over pelle. he couldn’t help but roll his eyes as he was hoisted up. he was going to be hit in the face if pelle wasn’t careful.
“is this really important? did you prove what you wanted? are you strong?” he droned “put me down now.”
@pellelavellan ( x ):
"It is isn't it?" he agreed. "It's always good to have at least one quiet place to retreat to when you need it. You'll go mad if you never take a few moments to yourself to breathe."
A little exploring about the terrain around skyhold had led him to discover there was a garden grotto just a small bit outside of the castle's walls. It was a nice little spot to hide for a bit if you wanted some peace and quiet--and Cullen he'd decided needed that more than most. The man never stopped worked--which was great for the Inquisition but he wasn't entirely convinced that it was great for Cullen.
If he were being honest he didn't know very much about what Cullen did before he was the commander besides that he was a templar. He'd never really pried for information but he liked to believe that Cullen couldn't have been like those awful templars that used to wander about the Marches taking power trips and murdering seemingly innocent people. If that were true then he imagined it must have been an exhausting thing to be surrounded by.
"You know when I was still living in the Free Marches my clan lived by these old ruins a mile or two outside of the village. They were beautiful the way the trees and flowers had overgrown into them over the years. When I was a kid we used to go in there looking for old ghosts but when I grew up it was just a place to go and hide when things felt a little too much. And then when we had to leave and moved on to the Dales it was very important to me to find another place like that, and I did. Would have lost my mind if I didn't I'm sure."
He paused for a moment, not sure if he was babbling on too much again about his home. He felt like he did that a lot, but it was really just a testament to how much he missed it.
"What about you?" he decided to ask. "Any interesting holes in the wall you liked to crawl in in Fereldan?"
It was nice to just... breathe. Just for a moment. He so rarely let himself have a moment to pause, to think. He had his reasons for that. The less busy he was, the more other things, things he didn’t want, could enter his mind. Kirkwall, the Fereldan Circle, lyrium, the loss of the Order, the state of Thedas...
But, not being alone in that moment, it did help. Pelle served as a distraction, one he needed when relaxing. He was happy to listen, to focus on that. They really never did talk about anything but work. It was impossible to be all work, all the time, though. And Pelle didn’t seem that type. He’d leaned a bit, just letting himself unwind some, if only for a moment.
Then the elf asked him about his own home. Arms folded loosely over his chest, more just to have something to do with them than anything else. The corner of Cullen’s mouth twitched in a brief half smile. “I haven’t been home as often as I should. Not since I was thirteen. That’s when I joined the templars. I would sneak off into churches, follow templars around...” But that wasn’t quite what Pelle had asked.
A hole to crawl in... or, Cullen figured, a place to relax. “There was a lake near the village I grew up in. I would spend time there. Reading, sitting, daydreaming, swimming... It was always peaceful. Away from everything.”
@pellelavellan wanted a thing
Halamshiral hadn't changed one bit, Talon noted as he wandered through the gates. A small grey mabari pup trotted alongside him, never straying far. He wasn't exactly invited to the event this time. Nonetheless, it was hard to not hear word about the growing tensions between the Inquisition, Orlais, and Ferelden. A little research and he had gotten time, place and date figured out. And then showed up uninvited.
Truth be told, it was partly his own damn curiosity about what was happening within the organization he'd left a year and change ago, but the bigger motivator was the fact he had come to terms with the fact he'd missed Pelle. That stupid elf had a concerning hold over him even so long after they'd split up.
Talon had no expectations, aside from his sort of ex being very likely some shade of mad at him for showing up unexpectedly. As he made his way through the courtyards and outside, he decided to hang out between a pair of outbuildings, where he could people watch and stay out of the way.
When Pelle finally passed, Ghost had fallen asleep in a sunny spot nearby, and Talon hesitated, not really knowing what to say. The elf hadn't seen him, too intent on wherever he was going. Moving out of his lurking spot, Talon leaned against a wall, one foot crossing over the other, arms crossed.
"Pelle."

Salty Munday Meme || accepting || @pellelavellan
Anything that butters the cat, so to speak. There are so many people that type in wild colours, fonts, or formats to present some sort of aesthetic on their blogs, then complain about accessibility and inclusivity. Vision impairment and reading disorders clearly don’t matter to them in those cases. Looking “pretty” must be more important. And then if you mention it, they link you to some extension or another to “remedy” it? I shouldn’t need a browser extension to read something.... But... this is something we know I have no problem being vocal about so instead...
Let’s go with deep-frying icons. I have no preference to whether someone uses icons or not on their replies. Sure, they’re lovely, but that doesn’t equal the quality of the writer. But for the love of all things, if you’re going to use them, please don’t make the contrast/saturation/overlay on them so intense and muted that I can barely see a face. Let me look at the character in your icons! Otherwise, what’s the point of using them??
