Pittheus was considered a wise and pious king and he even named his kingdom after his brother Troezen so now I wonder, what was his relationship with Chrysippus like?
Was he cold towards him? Was he kinder? Did Troezen’s death remind Pittheus of Chrysippus? Or if it was Troezen who died first and Chrysippus’s death came after? Did his brothers’ deaths hurt him so much that he wanted to be a kinder and wiser leader and father? Considering the fact that Theseus and Hippolytus were technically bastards but Pittheus loved and raised them regardless could suggest that he felt guilty for participating in Chrysippus’s abuse and wanted to be better.
