Today is Fountain Pen day!
The day occurs the first friday of november, so it doesn’t have a set date.
Since i’m a fan of fountain pens from about a year back, I thought I’d share some of my favourite webstores where you can buy fountain pens for a reasonable price.
Most people think fountain pens are expensive and cost hundreds maybe even thousands of dollar. While yes those pens exist, there’s an even bigger range of inexpensive pens that can cost between 5-50 bucks depending on the brand and the pen.
Jetpens - jetpens is known to sell a lot of popular art tools and materials for creating. But they also sell a lot of common and popular fountain pens and inks. What is the best thing with Jetpens tho, is that they also have good guides and articles explaining how fountain pens work, what ink to use, cleaning and troubleshooting.
GouletPens - Gouletpens is focused only on fountain pens, they have a good range of brands. Both the very cheap all the way up to the insanely expensive handmade namiki pens. They also have two good features called Nib Nook and Pen Plaza where you can compare things such as the nib line width and size comparison between different pens (which is essential for those of us who have v big or v small hands and wanna be sure the size suits us). Gouletpens also have a very active youtube channel where they answer questions once every friday.
PenChalet - I haven’t bought anything from PenChalet, but they are often mentioned in podcasts I listen to. They are one of the webshops that offers coupon codes via the podcasts they’ve sponsored (such as Art Supply Posse and The Pen Addict). Their sortiment seems to be pretty good.
Europe located webstores:
The Writing Desk - A webstore located in the UK. It’s the only europe-based webstore I’ve bought fountain pens from and only discovered it pretty recently. It’s sortiment is not as big as Goulet and PenChalet, but it offers most of the most popular beginner pens such as LAMY and Pilot etc. Also has a good sortiment of inks. This webstore is nice for ppl living in europe who want to save money on shipping costs.
If anyone know any more good webstores for fountain pens, especially any outside the US, feel free to add additional info in a reblog!
