I want to read a story where Morgause succeeds in gaslighting Arthur that Merlin was just passing him off as Uther's son and she offers Arthur her forgiveness & love if he stops resisting her and of course Arthur being a lonely love-starved 15 year old orphan believes her because the lady is so beautiful and kind and he never wanted to shoulder the responsibility of being a king anyway. He had already slept with her once, the truth was too terrifying to believe. 14 years forward, Mordred has been reared as Lot's legitimate son into a formidable knight and it's Arthur who desperately wants to form a connection to his son instead of the other way around, wheras to Mordred Arthur is just his mother's scandalous younger lover that is ruining his parents marriage and who his mother still keeps around for some reason.
