The rice harvest will occur soon where I live amongst the paddies. The dedicated farmer wakes up before sun rise and uses various auditory means to scare away the birds that intend to feast on the ready rice; mostly loud yelling and banging on thin and broad metal with a stick. I awake too as he is very effective in his noise making. Luckily, he is far less frequent and loud than the fire department's sirens and horns that blare back in Virginia.
